I love many types.
But when I get back to shreveport I always make it a point to get a johnny's pepperoni with a side of cheese sauce

Brooklyn style, preferably. I also like neopolitan style with just basil, sauce and high quality mozz, but most places really frick that up.
I don't consider thin crust or deep dish to be pizza. I like deep dish but it's more like a pie. Thin crust blows.

Haven't had one here in 20 yrs, but I used to love a good Godfather's Deep Dish pizza.
All-Meat Combo: The All-Meat Combo is piled so high with beef, pepperoni, sausage, ham and bacon bits that there's no room for any veggies.

Damn... Are there any historical landmarks along the way that would make it worth it?

Depends on where you're travelling from. Hellen Keller's birthplace isn't too far away, the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, Wilson Lake, Joe Wheeler State Park..
