Why is it that you never hear about Georgia's beaches?

At least from out of state. I mean you always hear about Myrtle Beach, Gulf Shores, Biloxi, and ALL of Florida, but you never hear about Georgia's beaches. And yes I know about Savannah, but not most else. Am I just missing something here?

No, that was on Duluth. This just randomly popped into my head like 5 minutes ago.

I think it looks nice.
I'm sure Mississippi has plenty of nice beaches, but it seems like you always see commercials asking you to visit Biloxi.

Biloxi's beach is man made. It's dead. Completely dead.

Those islands off the coast of MS kind of mess things up as far as pretty beaches and water goes

If anyone goes to Biloxi for the beaches, I'll personally slap some sense into them.
..I'm from there and I think I've been to the beach once

Gulf coast > Atlantic coast

Because Florida is the beach boss and it's 2 minutes further down the road.

If you go to Savannah for the beach you are doing it wrong. Closest beach to Savannah is Tybee Island and then maybe Hilton Head.
Georgia beaches aren't talked about because instead of being a long continuous strand like you see on in Florida, Georgia's coast is protected by a lot of small barrier islands. Of those, many were never really developed, and those that were, were developed initially as private property rather than a tourist destination. Jekyll Island once hosted names like Vanderbilt, Kellogg, Goodyear, Morgan, Rockefeller and Pulitzer.
The other reason is the beaches of the Georgia coast aren't as visually appealing as some of the sugar white sand beaches of the panhandle, because the sand consists of more material that is washed down from the rivers than it is made up of crushed shells. Hilton Head and Isle of Palms are much more like the Georgia beaches.

Not so fast. Tybee Beach sucks arse, and that's the nicest thing anyone could say about it. Hilton Head is by far much nicer - but that't not a GA beach. And Isle of Palms is in Charleston (over an hour or so away)...

Gulf Shores, Orange Beach on down to Destin, FL has some of the purest sand in the world. This is due in part from sediment dumped by the Mississippi River. Love me some Redneck Riviera.

The less developed beaches between Destin and PCB are much nicer.
