A question about Arkansas. Why does the entire state not have a dental school. I believe Arkansas is the only SEC state without a dental school
our dental kids go to UT-Memphis, one mile over the state line

Because UAB was the University of Alabama Med School until they split off to become an independent university in 1969
Actually, the med school remained part of the University of Alabama. The diploma says The University of Alabama School of Medicine, not the UAB School of Medicine.

Same, and not just bargain — they (at least used to) accept residency-matching for couples.
Know a radiologist and his wife who did that, and they're both doing quite 'aight.
I think it was you that brought it to my attention how affordable the place was. I know I learned it here and asked my friends about it later and got first hand confirmation. I know folks here live and breathe Alabama Red and Auburn Blue but if I was an Alabama resident looking to go to college I'd take a very serious look at South Alabama.

I think UAB is now named after some big donor.
Can’t think of who, but it is what it is
ETA
Heersink.
Heersink School of Medicine.
Carmichael’s House of Cultured Anatomy.

USA recently broke ground on a new, $200m medical school and state of the art research facility. Should be completed in 2026. It will allow for expanding the current class size of first-year medical students from 80 to 100, and ultimately 125. They certainly have come a long way.

This was true through 1990.
Then they said UAB for awhile.
Now it’s The Heersink School of Medicine.
“ In 2021, a transformational $95 million lead gift from longtime UAB supporter Marnix E. Heersink, M.D., named the school the UAB Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine. UAB enhanced the philanthropic support with a generous contribution of $5 million from Triton Health Systems, bringing the total support for the school to $100 million.”
For what it’s worth my diploma says “university of Alabama school of medicine.”
At least now it’s up for bids. It will be Heersink until someone with deeper pockets steps up.

Morehouse’s purpose is to produce black doctors for the inner city. Not sure if other races are allowed admission as it’s an HBCU.
Yes, anyone can attend a HBCU.
It's not super common, but it happens.
As for Mercer getting doctors to the rural areas of GA and Morehouse getting doctors to the inner city... that's a good thing. I have no problems with schools working to fill those needs.

Really? You're not sure?
There needs to be a test to post on the internet.

Had a first cousin attend Alabama A&M on a full minority scholarship. He actually was their radio play-by-play announcer for several years, too.
