Same here. It had so, so much potential.
I enjoy a good religious epic like Heston's Ten Commandments. I think though that Hollywood thinks you have to CGI the hell out of it to make it interesting.

Yeah the Passion was torture porn for Christians.
Very well shot, though. It made its money entirely on emotional appeal though.

You watching a Christian movie would be similar to Beejon watching straight porn with cheeseburger Eddie. You gotta believe in it.

Go watch
"A walk to remember"
And report back to me

Not necessarily. I think most Christians see themselves at odds with our current culture to begin with. If we see society as outrageous and sinful, then the Christian should accept boring as a compliment.
Just my take, not advocating either way. I also think that those movies aren't necessarily "Christian movies" (Though, I'll admit I don't know how to define that). Most of those movies are takes of biblical stories, but as has been mentioned, I doubt anyone would be lining up to see a scripturaly accurate portrait of Noah's story. It's boring.

The real stuff is much more exciting.

A sincere answer from a christian who hates what we put out in theaters and on the radio...
the problem is that we try to be so "set apart" that it's not relatable to the rest of the world. so we make movies that don't have the hint of inappropriate humor or content and dumb down Christian lyrics to the masses. So we make something that's appealing to take our kids to because we know it's clean, but is wholly removed from culture and unattractive to non-christians.
case in point... take 2 of the bigger names in "christianity" in Hollywood right now. Kirk Cameron is just a blowhard meme at this point. Then take Zach Levi. Levi is very outspoken about his faith, but he doesn't make it so unrelatable that he's kryptonite. he does a lot more good just being a christian who does life than Cameron will ever do with his movies.

Seen it, would still have sex with terminally ill Mandy Moore

I knew you were out there with a thread title like this.

But the movie was good right?
% wise there is a better ratio of good/bad Christian movies than mainstream.

Maybe so, but I'm rather proud that I resisted the siren song of the 'Jesus' thread that was on the forum a few days ago.
A good discussion gets going and then the thread is usually either zapped or anchored. That's why we need a religion/philosophy board. It couldn't be more ugly and disjointed than the politics board.

Kind of an uphill battle for a niche market (and I say that as a Christian). Hollywood doesn't really cater to those films, so they don't have the resources or the pull to get the best acting and production.
The best Christian movie I have seen to date was The Climb (2002). Decent storyline and well-acted. Starred Jason George and Ned Vaughn, iirc. But still kinda cheesy, of course

I'd like to see one made about the Divine Council in the heavenlies. That would be interesting.
