It was a global list, when you just filter to North America and USA, that #216 drops to around 50, still should be better but 50 is not bad.

Their 6 weights were…

1. Academic reputation (40%)
2. Employer reputation (10%)
3. Student-to-faculty ratio (20%)
4. Citations per faculty (20%)
5. International faculty ratio (5%)
6. International student ratio (5%)

According to this site, Vanderbilt is trending down over 4 year span
2012 | #167
2013 | #181
2014 | #182
2015 | #216

tDecline is real (at least according to this site)

Must dispatch pet spider to search the web…

Always look to the methodology.

based on the above, the highest ranked SEC school is A&M (159).

No weight was included for research. That's unusual.

These types of rankings also usually favor schools with strong graduate programs, although that does not explain why Vanderbilt is relatively low, as they are well regarded in many fields.

Usually A&M does better when research spending is taken into account, but perhaps they left that out because of disparities in accounting among different countries.

I work at Vanderbilt. The Medical center is now separate from the University. This may have something to do with the dip in rankings as that's a lot of lost publications and NIH funding previously associated with the University.

I'm curious as to how weights were assigned to categories. I'm also curious as to why the number of international faculty/students were categories. I'd imagine that universities in China would take a hit for this. It seems more like a fabricated list than anything else.

I'm assuming citations per faculty accounts for research.

I don't see a lot of bowl games in the top third of that list.

US DoE has their Science Bowl

Granted I am from the age of the dinosaurs, but we used to have science bowls between schools, did they stop doing this?

This won't insult any of them because none of them went to Clemson.
