Decent Jobs
Not too big
Preferable cheap land
Decent schools
Up and Coming
Cheap cost of living

This could also be anywhere in the U.S. not just the south. Have seen nice small towns in Tennessee and other southern states that interest me.

Would like to own at least 5-10 acres. Right now, where I live, in the middle of nowhere IL, acres are going for $30k. I enjoy the area, but I would like to get out of Illinois in the future, and not going to pay that.

How big is too big for you? I personally really like Chattanooga and kind of that area of TN up to Manchester.

DSJ what do you think of the Northern Mississippi area just South of Memphis and the Golden Triangle area in the state? I hear very good things about both areas but its been three decades since I lived in Mississippi.

Haven't really lived up that way since college, and then it was just in Oxford (with a short stint in Tupelo). I've lived from Jackson and south since 2000.

There's been a lot of growth up there, but I just don't know a whole lot about it.

You'll probably want to add Ocean Springs to the list, as well.

Definitely not a bad place either. I love all of those towns around Biloxi along the water. Bay St. Louis is just my favorite out of all of them.

I wouldn't mind a big city nearby, but want a nice place that isn't breaking bank. Up and coming with a decent amount of jobs. Right now I'm in a town of sub 5000. Basically one of those decent towns that doesn't have too much trash - I know that's hard nowadays.

Pass Christian is a good one, too.

I live fairly close to them, but regrettably don't get down to them too much. I was in Fairhope, AL last week for work, and never realized how nice its downtown area was.

Come up here to the Northwoods bah. If you have even a 50% disability you’ll live like a King.

But for real when I’m far older and have children probably the Triangle.
Maybe my kids go to school in that area (preferably Duke but UNC will do)
And if UNC I’ll be down there and can pay their in state tuition.

But That’s not me, this is me.
If Raleigh or Durham are “too big” for this thread
I’ll go with Cary Apex or Holly Springs.

Love Charlotte but it’s a little too “home” for Me

Prefer somewhere that isn’t

So you’re not raised up?

Disappointing.
