Heading south today through KY, TN, and AL to FL. Can anyone recommend a town in Alabama to stop for the night. Looking for safe with affordable place. Also, anything you baws recommend stopping to see? Was thinking about going west on way home to LA then up through Arkansas and back to the North. Wife's been bitching for me to find a place, hook it up
I assume you'll be coming down 65. If you are in the north Alabama region, I recommend Comfort Inn in Priceville. It should be under $100. Do not stay at any of the others, from what I understand they have issues. I visit that area and always say at the Comfort Inn unless I stay with family. No complaints.
Cullman is also pretty safe if you are white. I can't speak to how it is lately, but it has a not so nice history towards black people, so the cops might not be all that great if you aren't white.

They way to carry it is loaded. It won't do what it was designed to do if you have to put the mag in and chamber a round before you are ready. Close range guns must be ready to fire immediately
I hate the Ruger LCP trigger. Just a personal preference

Abbeville, north of Dothan just off 431 is a nice town. Yella Fella has put of lot money into the town, helping restore it to its look from the 40’s and 50’s.

Navarre is better than Destin or Fort Walton if you don't like crowded town/beaches

All southeastern (south of Ohio River, east of Mississippi river) states honor each others carry laws. You will be good to go from Kentucky to Florida, if you're north of M/D line (north of Ohio river) then you'd better do your research on those states carry laws as they aren't reciprocated.

He ain't from Kentucky. But you're right...if Kentucky and Tennessee baws are traveling to redneck riviera, we always go I65 and get off at Georgiana on 55 to Destin/Ft Walton and Evergreen or Greenville to Navarre/ Pensacola Beach. One of my best friends lives in Clanton so O go to Clanton quite a bit

Lol...you have to be in Lexington area for that......j/k. You'll notice if it weren't for signs welcoming you to Ky and Tenn, you wouldn't know which state you were in as they look identical....in fact extend that to Northern Bama/ No. Georgia as well

Only thing I have to say is try to avoid I65 between Decatur and Birmingham. Almost always road construction of some kind backing up traffic. If you are going to Guntersville, from I65 take I565 east to Huntsville and then AL431(Governor's Drive in Huntsville), always smooth sailing and straight to Guntersville from there. And since you are coming to my neck of the woods, I will confirm Guntersville is the best city in North AL to stay, especially if you have a boat.

Cullman is a cool little town off of 65 nestled between Birmingham and Huntsville. Their lake is nice and the town is nice. I enjoyed our visit there and would return. Despite our differences on the gridiron, Alabama folks are super nice and southern hospitality is still alive there.

I would say the typical reaction to black folks in that area is first staring, then whispering, and maybe some racist things and shite talk said after they leave.

I don't know much about it in recent history, as I haven't lived in the area in nearly 20 years. So things and people can change in that amount of time.
In fact, I'm sure it's probably no where near as bad as it use to be, even 20 years ago it had improved greatly since I was a kid.
But basically Cullman was a sundown town. Meaning if you were black you weren't generally welcome after dark. Black people come in to work, most of them live in Vinemont. They were not slave owners, so there is a very low population of black people in the area.
I doubt most black people would have trouble these days, especially at an interstate motel. But it does have a history.

perfect, and Huntsville is a great city to pass through
Hwy 431 slow train to the coast I say, you get Abbeville too like the guy said a few posts back - Guntersville to Auburn to Eufuala to Abbeville to Panama City and then head west along the coast
