Tough to narrow it down to one moment. My mom was suicidal for about a year when I was in high school and she attempted once. Tried to drive her car off a cliff, but was stopped by some bushes and other stuff. She eventually did get better though.
There have been some other tough times too.

Because I'm sure you're the picture of perfection and never made a major mistake in your life.

God gave me the strength to make things right. It wasn't easy and I couldn't have done it alone. My wife is an amazing woman though and has constantly fought to make sure that I never let my mistakes define the man I've become here on this side of the disaster.

I'm far from religious and usually if I pray it involves me not waking up in the morning. I'll say a little one for you and your family tonight. It couldn't hurt, you've experienced far harrowing circumstances than I. I hope the best for your kiddo.

When I was 11, my mom and I were driving home from picking up dinner. We were delayed by a huge car wreck. We sat there for a while and I noticed the tow truck pulling a car out of a ditch. It was my fathers car. We rushed to the hospital to find out my father had been killed. He was 30.

When I was 6 years old , my father died of cancer. The last thing he told me was that he wasn't going to make it and he also said he loved me... the only thing I had left of him was his gold chain, then someone robbed my house and stole it.

Finding out my ex-wife was cheating on me and the subsequent divorce that followed. I was a mess. I stayed in a drunken state of depression for about 3 months and almost lost my job because of it.

My brother's and my dad's deaths. They were 7 years apart. I would have to say my brother's was worse because it was unexpected. My dad's, as hard as it was, we had seen coming for some time because his declining health and all the health issues he had over his final years, so I was able to mentally and emotionally "prepare" for his death. Even though you can never really "prepare" for losing someone so close, seeing it coming a ways down the road is slightly easier than unexpected.

Thanks bro! The memory is permanently ingrained. I can see it just as clear today, and that was almost 30 years ago!
