Stonehog being uppity?

He's just one of many examples of why Arkansas fans are the worst on this site.

What? I don't think allegory was the word you were looking for unless it has another meaning I'm unaware of. Maybe you meant anecdote?

Yeah, I already upbraided him on his poor choice of word.
People these days

Do individuals of darker hues really not tip well or is it just a nasty stereotype?
Yes. They don't tip any worse than the Sunday morning church crowd though. At least they didn't a long time ago, when I worked as a server for a minute.

Well you posted two whole examples of black people tipping poorly, so it must be true.

Nah, just posting facts.

I've waited tables.
Black folks in general didn't tip well. Neither did white trash.
And neither did pastors.
Stereotypes don't fall out of thin air. The best tippers were other service industry people, or decent intelligent people, especially white women over the age of 30. College-aged white women might be the most entitled persons on the planet, though.

The looking for discriminatory treatment is the one that bothers me...
If you are the only black group in the restaurant and one table has faster service than you, your server is being racist. How many times do situations like these come up amongst all the same race and people don't freak out about it?
I see this a lot...it's the I know we have a rep of not tipping, but since I was treated differently because I'm black, Im not tipping.

A dozen times in my life I've been in a restaurant where a table seated AFTER me got their food or drinks or ticket before me.
It has always been "that's kinda shitty, oh well" type deal. Once, I had verification that it was because the girl forgot to put our order in. I called her on it. She told the truth.
Sometimes shitty service is just shitty service. It is most likely rarely about race.
On the flipside there's a black girl at the local breastaurant, Tilted Kilt, who gives HORRIBLE service. She went and talked to another table for probably five minutes while we're sitting there waiting to order. I won't sit in her section, her service was so awful. And I don't think its because I'm white, or she's black. I think she just sucks as a waitress.

Service would have to be really, really shitty for me to not tip. Like never returned to the table to check on us, didn't refill my drink, etc. So I'm holding up that 30 year old white woman statistic.

Apparently I win.
That's how you win the internet, in case you didn't know.
When someone points out a spelling/grammar/literary device issue in an argument that isn't about spelling/grammar/literary device, that's an admission of defeat.

Something you left out of your big post was how they go through all those custom additions and subtractions to orders, and then when you bring the check out they inform you that such and such wasn't correct, something was burned, or they found a foreign object in their dish, and will no longer be paying for that particular item.

This catfish is too spicy, they exclaim after eating 75% of it.
ETA: I must say, middle-aged and older black couples would usually tip me well. It was the large groups of indistinguishable relationships, giving me the stink-eye because I looked like I came from a Nazi poster, that were always terrible customers.

Nah, you don't know me that well, deeprig. I don't care about winning or losing internet arguments. I'm just a nerd who almost always focuses on spelling/grammar. Including on my own posts much of the time.
One of the few homeschool grad stereotypes I uphold

Where did you wait tables, TBird? I think that may have an effect on your experience.
When working in WA and OR, the few black folks I would get were indistinguishable from any other customers as far as tips and neediness.
Birmingham? Waaaaaaay different story.

My brother used to be a bartender at a place on Beale. He said it was awful when the COGIC convention came into town. They were known by all to have a horrible reputation for tipping, and were some of the highest maintenance customers they ever dealt with.
He said he knew of a couple of local spots that would even shut down during that week.
