When I have teenagers they will live by one rule:

"Never break two laws at once."

Seems like everyone who really goes to jail (that isn't a murderer or a bank robber) breaks two laws at once. They have drugs in the car AND they speed. Or they get publicly intoxicated THEN drove. Or they embezzle money AND lied about it.

Living by the break one law at a time rule has kept me out of real jail (knock on wood). Been in a drunk tank plenty though.

Went to prison for 53 days. Having a great lawyer surprisingly since it was a public defender (yay for being her fourth ever case and her trying to make a name for herself) and having a mental health record a mile long granted me all of 53 days + 2 years probation for aggravated assault.

Edit: fixed spelling of word. Damn typo.

Good lawyers are priceless.

But they'll come up with one.

Spent three days in the Mat-Su Pretrial facility in Palmer, Ak and one day in the old 6th Avenue facility in Anchorage. I absolutely hated it. Some people were at home there.

Thankfully, no. Mainly because my parents would've killed me for even thinking about breaking the law, not because I'm a good guy at heart

Sentenced to a weekend in jail, because the judge wanted to teach me a "lesson" in college.

same here. my dad said he flat out would not ever post bail for me under any circumstances in HS or college.

fortunately i was a prudish baptist kid in both and let loose a little later in life when i was smart enough to make good decisions.
