So instead of 30 days for contempt, a couple of meetings in a faulty treatment system while she's making open threats about going back to the home of her victim is more effective?
Where did I say that? I said in lieu of 300 days. Leave the 30 days in tact.

bullshite We do have early releases for violent offenders. Know why? Because we're locking people away for 300 f'king days for "disrespect" and running out of prison space.
Wait.. is it bullshite, or is there reasons for what I said? You contradicted yourself in the same post.

And the person in the OP is a violent offender who assaulted her grandfather and threatened to return to his home.
She didn't get 300 days for a violent offense. The system is fricked up.
How some of you can't see how ludicrous this is, beyond me.

The contempt started because she threatened to go back to the home of the victim despite a court order not to do so. And continued to say she would despite the contempt charge.
How you can not see this isn't just mouthing off is beyond me as well.

Because, most see that the person is fricked up in this instance. Not the system. Simply shutting her mouth and not threatening to break the law would have prevented 270 days of her incarceration.

Take your pick of phrases that describe what happened. She was a stupid, trash, heathern and got what was coming to her.

Not at all. We don't parole people out earlier than we used to. We do let people out before they're due to be released on occasion due to overcrowding which is a totally separate issue.

If she did what she's accused of she's a POS. However, 300 days for contempt is over the top despite the idiotic and verbally abusive behavior.

a variable in all of this we aren't necessarily considering is how she carried herself throughout the trial.
she could have been a bitch the whole time and the judge just had enough of her shite.
or, the judge just had a bad day and was taking it out on her.

You know, I always appreciate it when people understand and respond to actual statements rather than cut them and state and/or imply the opposite of what a poster said.
You're a good poster, Mulat. Definitely a great job sticking to what was said and being true to it.

300 days in jail? Holy frick, I can't see how anyone agrees with that.
I don't agree if it was just back talking to the judge, however this person, point blank to the judge she was not going to obey the court order and was going to the house.
If the judge didn't jail her, then she was going to go to the house, the house of the person she assaulted, get arrested for not obeying the courts order and get jailed anyway.
If some one tells a judge they're not going to comply with the court order then the judge has no other option than to jail the person. The length of Jail time seems extreme, however it's not like the 300 days was the first sentence, it was a progressive amount after the defendant continued to threaten to not obey the ruling.

You act like you know what you are talking about, but how is putting someone in jail for 300 days causing us to run out of prison space?

Sounded like she could have gotten up to 7 counts of contempt.

Yeah, frick that judge. He puts his clothes on just like the rest of us. Unacceptable.

That is completely ridiculous and absurd. Agree with the defendant, frick that judge.

It's called contempt of court for a reason, and that reason is that the process of law must be orderly or else it will fail. If you can't be orderly in court, go sit your arse in jail. Society will not miss you for a second.
