Ebony Burks, 32, appeared in Elyria Municipal Court, Ohio, accused of domestic violence and assault. Speaking to her over video feed, judge Gary Bennett told her she was not to have contact with either of the victims involved.

Burks took issue with the fact she would not be able to contact or see her grandfather, Shedrick McCray, because she lived in his house.

After she lost her cool, Burks was initially handed down 30 days by Judge Bennett. But as she continued to argue and speak aggressively towards the judge, he gradually increased the prison sentence.

On hearing she wouldn’t be allowed to go to Mr McCray’s home, Burks said: ‘How you going to tell me I can’t go to my home?’

To which Bennett replied: ‘I just did.’

Burks hit back: ‘Well, I bet I do.’ At this point the judge gave her 30 days for contempt of court.

Just as she looked set to be imprisoned for six months, Burks told the judge: ‘F*** you.’ He then gave her 300 days – the longest contempt of court sentence ever handed down at the court.

While she's retarded for doing that, 300 days of someone's life because you're an uppity judge who doesn't understand why someone might be overly emotional is even dumber.

Because American courts are SO worthy of respect these days

I already said she was retarded for doing so, but 10 months because a judge feels disrespected? Are you kidding me?

Give that judge a beer. Just because you're a judge doesn't mean you should have to take that kind of shite.

Treat the authorities with respect or deal with the consequences. My parents taught me that when I was like 2.

Just because you're a Judge doesn't mean any disrespect warrants taking away from someone's life. That's not justice.

You'll have to forgive me, someone being tried for domestic assault and abuse does not inspire righteous indignation in the same manner that taxation without representation does. Clearly, my moral compass must be violently askew.

So because of her crimes she doesn't deserve due process and fairness like everyone else supposedly receives?

A month, sure. 10? Are you fricking kidding me? Is this Soviet Russia where we jail anyone who upsets us?

Just watched the video at the link. She absolutely received "due process". What the judge issued was no different then what is issued in your standard assault/domestic violence case. She can't have contact with the victims involved. Unfortunately for her, one of the victims (her Grandfather) owns the house she lives in. He tried to explain that to her when she asked if she "can't go home" and started acting a fool.

Moral of the story? Don't assault the people who are putting you up and you won't find your arse out in the cold. And don't get pissed and act like an arse in court when a judge calls you on it.

So she deserves an extra 10 months of her life taken away from her on top of the sentences from other charges?

Unless it's served concurrently, this is bullshite. So much unquestioned submission to "authority" on this board it's disgusting.

She got it, because she was in contempt of court. Can't follow the rules? Face consequences.

This falls under the egocentric attitudes that pervade this country today.

After watching the video, absolutely. It's called contempt for a reason. The judge explained pretty explicitly what she couldn't and couldn't do and she thought she'd get cute (with a judge no less) about it and threaten to go back to the home of one of her victims. frick her. And I mean that sincerely.

Also, don't get me started on how big of a piece of shite you have to be to catch an assault charge for assaulting YOUR GRANDFATHER who apparently owns (and lives at) the home you're staying in.

yeah, 10 months is a lot for a contempt charge but when you basically tell a judge to his face that you're going to disobey court orders and then continue to be belligerent, I dunno what you really should expect
