O'Charleys was my go-to years ago, and then they sold out to soybeans to save money

I would gain 100 lbs. if their fried cheese wedges were available to me at all hours if the day. Those are good.

Had to find a bunch of mom and pop type places for good food. I miss some of those.

I will say I had some really good food at those mom and pop restaurants while I was there. There was a family run Italian place whose name I can't remember in Gilroy that I loved.

So, we did get O'Charley's on Sunday for lunch. They had a new burger (new to me) called the Western Cheeseburger and I got that, and it was really good.

It included the fried cheese wedges on the burger.

I never understood the Taco Bell hype. Then again I don’t smoke weed.

Sigh... as much as it pains me to admit, I'm not as crazy about Chick-fil-a as I once was, although it's still one of my favorites. Raising Cane's and Zaxby's are both pretty close, though.

Another painful admission, which might just be more specific to my area, but our Texas Roadhouse has quickly went downhill in the last year or so. Maybe pandemic related? The steak is still pretty good, but everything else is meh and the service is terrible. Throw Cheddars in there too.

Applebees where I live used to be very poor to average, but I think ours has new ownership, and it has improved quite a bit. We eat there now maybe once a month now.

... all names I expected to see in an Most overrated restaurants thread.

You can pretty much fill in the blank with any big chain... because why pay good money for something you can easily make better at home? And why I'll gladly drive through a Chick-fil-a for sandwich to hold me over on the way home.

Authentic Mexican restaurants trump chains, as do seafood places, as do Bar-b-Q's, meat and three, mom and pop places, and family run pizzeria's.

Agree on In-N-Out. Had it when I visited the west coast and was super disappointed with it.

I actually used to really like Steak N Shake's cajun burger and fries but they got rid of it.

Buffalo Wild Wings gets a vote from me, too. Place sucks and is overpriced.

too dry when I went there. I'd damn near need 2 liter to wash it all down.

I don't understand. Are you saying you like shoestring fries?

The problem is they are "too fresh" and way earthy. They should at least soak in water a few hours after being cut. That would in itself make it much better, but I think they just cut the potato and fry it because there is no real prep involved.

And if they really want to make them good, they need to be fried twice. That makes them crispier on the outside, but then soft on the inside, like McDonalds fries.

To each their own I guess. I guess whoever came up with the place thought they were good as well. Personally, it reminds me of badly home cooked fries.

Chipotle is a very overpriced Moe's. I think it's almost purely a name-brand phenomenon like BluRay vs. HD. Chipotle just sounds better and I think that's why people prefer it. I like Qdoba too but they're hard to find. We had one in State College and Tuscaloosa but idk about the status of either now

I will agree with OP on Chickfila. I like Chickfila, but I prefer Zaxby's by far over CFA. There are far better fast food restaurants in the South than CFA but not necessarily here

I don't know how BWW is still around. You can get BWW quality wings at gas stations in Pennsylvania

Also, Whataburger is basically McDonalds burgers with big drinks.

Hold on now... that is wrong. You should take that back.

You are far more likely to get food poisoning at Chipotle and nearly poop yourself to death than you would if you ate at Moe's. Plus you have to deal with the whole "shite sniffing" we are better than your average burrito joint service at Chipotle. Don't drag poor Moe's down by comparing them to Chipotle.

I don't know if you can call Applebee's over-rated because I've never heard anyone say it was really good.

But I'm going to say they are over-rated since they are somehow still in business all these years.

Who the frick eats here, and what are you buying?

I'd say my most overrated restaurant is Chipotle. I like getting bowls from there sometimes, but any other fast-casual burrito chain blows them out of the water, top to bottom.

1. Barberito's (Inside Athens only for me)
2. Willy's
3. Moe's
4. Chipotle

Strongly disagree. I haven't tried Barberitos or Willys, but I have been to Moes a bunch.

Chipotles ingredients just always seem fresh to me while ai felt like the stuff at Moes has been sitting out, even when going for lunch.

I will say that Chipotle lacks the variety that other places like Moes and Izzos have. Btw I put Izzos above Moes as well.

Overrated for me Salt Grass. Just seemed like a more expensive Logans/Texas Roadhouse.

I've noticed this too. I don't notice the pickle juice flavor anymore.
