First job ever was as a waiter at Johnny Rockets (50's style diner) and it sucked.

Then I worked in car detail at a car dealership on the used cars. It wasn't too bad because all cars that got traded in were taken to a separate detail company before put on the lot so I only had to clean them up once they sold but keeping all those cars clean during pollen season was a BITCH.

I worked as a dock hand at a marina on Lake Tuscaloosa. That was the easiest job ever.

My freshman fall semester I got shitty grades so my dad got me a Christmas break job with an electrical contractor. It sucked enough that my grades never slipped again.

I also worked for UA's national alumni association calling people to sell them memberships or get them to renew. Most of the time I either listened to voicemails or people mad because I'm calling them during supper but I had a lot of really funny conversations with people.

Edit- And that's the last time I post anything even remotely related to me on the rant. To the a-hole who sent a message to my business social media account threatening to "out me". Not cool. I really don't care that much, and a dozen people on this site know me personally, but it's still pretty shitty. So, pat yourself on the back. You spent a few hours out of your day playing Sherlock Douchebag to connect the dots. Congrats.

1.) Einstein's Bagels - kinda shitty, but not too bad. I did get all the free bagels I wanted after a shift. But you get sick of eating them. So eventually I'd take home the entire trash bag with hundreds of bagels. Me and my friends would wait a few days, then we'd have bagel wars or play bagel baseball.

2. Delivered Pizzas - it was are good local place, that didn't have cheap pizza. So the tips were okay. But really it was a cover for my other job...

3. Selling weed - in high school, I sold good bud (which in Florida, they called crippy. I blame Miami for the name), while my best friend sold schwag. He sold a lot of weight. But he also started selling to every employee at a small gas station closest to our houses. So we had a safe place to meet people, and never worried about the police. They'd also sell us beer 24 hours a day, then ring it up at 7-8 am, when they were allowed to sell again. It was a sweet setup in high school.

4. Pirated CDs - my dad was a technology geek. He loved all the new computers and things coming out. So I was one of the first in high school to have a CD burner. So I bought spindles of blank discs, borrowed albums from everyone I knew, and sold then for $8 or 2 for $15. If someone wanted an album I didn't have, they'd being me a copy, and I'd record one for them and one for myself. My selection became huge.

It was great for a year, but the next school year, Napster came out, and there was a lot of competition. So I gave up after that.

(Thank God for statutes of limitations for those last two.)

5. Strip mall maintenance - my dad's buddy owned a bunch of strip malls. I'd basically drive all around Florida, and clean them up, with a little light maintenance. I eventually had to clean behind a dumpster with spade shovel, got pissed, and demanded a raise. He balked, and found an older, more responsible person, who probably did a better job, and didn't smoke blunts in his car. I think I went back to selling weed after that. It had better fringe benefits.

Yikes. I have had people call me at my office asking if I would hire them. That's beyond creepy.

1) Funeral home. First job at age 16, worked for a year consecutive then again for a summer while home from college. I helped do everything other than embalm since you kinda have to go to school for that. I helped with embalming though, worked funerals, went on death calls, picked up bodies and death certificates, etc. Pretty cool experience.

2) Vinyl siding. My cousin's company so I just did it for a summer to help out. Not real fun.

3) Road construction crew. Did this for a summer job in HS. I basically held the stop/slow sign. Boring work and hella long hours but the pay was fairly good at the time for an hourly 17 year old.

4) Data entry. I'm a pretty proficient typist so I kinda liked thsi one. It was for about 8 months in college, you didn't have a very rigid schedule and would just go in when you wanted. We'd listen to recordings made by doctors and lawyers and transcribe them and send back.

5) Car wash for about 9 months in college. Nice little college job...minimal hours, zero stress or responsibility, cash tips, could get fricked up before or during work.
