"Look at how much he changes his opinion. Is he any different than all the politicians who have promised to represent you and then didn't?"

Attacking him directly won't work. The most logical guy to do it (and he did it some tonight) is Cruz but he's also too hardline conservative to fly in a general. Kasich can show his record, but he's too liberal and soft spoken thus far to come through the noise.

After tonight I'm tentatively:

Kasich
Cruz
Rubio
Trump

Anybody else

Clinton/Sanders

I'm really not even sure what to think about Kasich. At times I like him and other times he's way too liberal. Loved the point he was driving home tonight. Quit getting Washington into everything and handle it at a local level.

It's worse this year than it has been in my lifetime. There isn't one I can even pretend to support

Romney came out swinging against him today. I think his motive is, if he's effective against Trump, to get into the race as a latecomer.

That Romney thing (because I don't know what else to call it) was so terrible I'm not kidding when I say I think it might have been a political false flag.

It didn't do one thing to hurt Trump and in fact just further increased his already set in concrete image as the anti-establishment candidate.

If it wasn't a false flag, who in their right mind though it would be anywhere close to effective? I'm sure the Trump campaign had a hard time writing a response because they couldn't control their laughter.

I voted for Rubio in the primary because Kasich is too liberal on social issues for me but, having said that, I think he'd make a FANTASTIC VP candidate for the nominee - especially if that nominee is Trump. He'll bring government executive experience and a level of professionalism that the Donald will really need.

He's also spot on about getting Washington out - and I don't say that as a shot against either party. The simple fact is that the further away from the problem you get, the more ineffective and inefficient the attempted solution becomes.

Nobody can address a local problem need better than the neighborhood. After that, the city, then the county, then the state. The absolute LAST name on the list is the Federal government and yet they (with both parties to blame) insist on trying to manage most all of them.

Yeah the whole Romney thing didn't make sense to me. It appears the reason that Trump is getting the support so far is due to a lot of people being tired of the prototypical candidate losing. So having a former prototypical failed candidate bash him does nothing to sway any support that Trump presently has.

That's because he's not a politician. He's still a slimeball. Idk how someone could watch the most recent debate and come away with your line of thinking. The man flip flops on everything, does nothing but attack his opponents with baseless insults similar to what you'd hear on a schoolyard, and speaks in generalities when it comes to policy.

I think you need to cut the TV off for a few days.

Kasich is by far the best candidate right now, but republicans are too fricking stupid to see it. Trump is a goddamn clown and it's embarrassing to see how well he's doing in this election.

For how much conservatives bitched about the past two elections being because the uninformed voted in the cool guy, we're seeing the same exact same now on the conservative side.

They're loving it when he goes off because it is exactly what they're feeling and despite the narrative being pushed by some, it isn't just the xenophobe down the street feeling this way.

Just this morning Jim Webb, former senator from Virginia and 2015 candidate for the Democratic nomination for president came out and said he will not vote for HRC but would consider voting for Trump..

Whether he saw it or just fell into it, Trump's captured that anger and frustration. Unless that mood changes in the next 6 months, he'll probably be the next POTUS.

As posted in another thread, in Europe right now they're burning down immigrant housing (French police, no less). Hungary built a border fence. The Dutch are seizing the valuables of newcomers.

Not related, but important nonetheless, in the Pacific, China's economy is stumbling along really hoping not to trip and fall and there are steadily increasing military tensions with Japan in particular.

We're in a very dangerous time right now - very 1930s like. People everywhere have gotten mad as hell and Trump's the US manifestation of that anger. I just hope it doesn't end up like the 1930s did.

I love how politics can't stay on the political board this year. And it will only get worse.

Trump vs Clinton won't be a battle of ideologies. It will be a battle of who slings the most mud.

No. Please stop saying shite like this. Only in America do people actually vote for a steaming pile of shite because they don't want the other steaming pile of shite to win. It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Vote for the candidate that best fits your politics.

the poli board is not on the SECr and it is also a terrible board. Lots of things get discussed on this board that would be better suited on a tigerdroppings board.

This.

It's good to see so much Johnson support. And the only reason a third party won't win is because people with the attitude they can't. It's the same mentality as not voting. It defeats the whole point of democracy. If CNN would but Johnson in the Presidential debates with Trump/Cruz and Clinton/Sanders this election would be completely different. He's going to be on the ballot in all 50 states. All you can do in this world is act according to your own conscience. And if you don't do that, how could anyone else. I'm not saying vote for Johnson if you don't agree with him, but if you do, then vote for him.

By the way, neither Trump nor Cruz can beat Clinton or Sanders. So the logic that voting Libertarian will only ensure a Democrat victory is bullshite. At the very least you're going to force the GOP to change in a positive way so that they can actually win in the future.
