yea i dont get the seasoning one. We love spicey foods as much as anybody, except maybe Thais.

i did find myself wondering if the creator knew that an M9 and M17 were actually firearms or if they just designated some random #s to an M.

Bigotry is an extreme prejudice towards a group of people

Racism is when you try to enforce superiority over a group of people based on bigotry

Segregation was racist because power was used to enforce bigotry... without any power over another group of people it's simple bigotry

All racists are bigots, not all bigots are racists

Thank you sir... I figured a little education session could help errrrrybody understand the difference, and it's important seeing how the majority of the general public doesn't know the difference, and continue to call something that it's not

FWIW it's still a funny thread

I would say bigotry is taking prejudice and refusing to see a person or situation differently than you expected.

ALL of us are prejudiced. All it means is you have seen a pattern and have a reasonable expectation for it to continue. Doesn't mean you can't recognize you were wrong and then see it differently.

You asked for the definition of racism... it's believing one race is superior than another's and using power to attain that vision

Bigotry is extreme prejudice

Those are facts... look in a dictionary... cut and dry... no I would say this or I would say that... it is what it is

Sure we are all prejudice to one extent or another, thats undeniable... I was saying that without any power over anybody, those original posts were bigotry not racism... pure, simple and more importantly CORRECT

I wouldn't say you'd have to have power over somebody to be racist.

No

It's racial. Not racist.

Jeez, calm down. I didn't attack you or belittle your comment. I just added my own viewpoint.

Is this how you respond in the real world during an otherwise calm discussion?

This was the funniest one to me, but all of them were very funny. I do this one all the time to black people. It's the look we give to show our condolence for their plight. Trust me we never give it to other white people.

He could post the same thing and it would be completely true.

He didn't attack you. He didn't belittle you. He just added his own viewpoint. I don't know where you think an escalation occurred.

Racism is the most overused and bastardized word in the English language.

That last picture is definitely accurate though. I'll be damned if that isn't the face I make when I make eye contact with someone

That's the one I found funniest..because it is absolutely the most spot-on of them all.

It is also the face I make in that situation as well. Never really thought about it till I saw that though.

That was my point exactly... I figured the rant could have used a little education on the issue to not fall into that trap

According to Mr Webster this is the definition

racism - : poor treatment of or violence against people because of their race
: the belief that some races of people are better than others

According to the original/real meaning of the word power has nothing to do with it.

poor treatment

You just proved my point bud...

It can be a small amount of power, i.e. lunch counter or water fountains, but with no power it's just bigoted statements...

Not possible to treat someone poorly without the power to do so
