Idk. It seems auto correct has been a huge letdown for you.

Plus, for every iPhone bought, Tim Cook donates $1 to the Auburn slush fund

And yet I never hear anyone really complaining about their phone. Always a good sign.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with the iPhone. I had one for years and loved it. I have the Galaxy S3 now and love it too. I can install any app I want (including "trial" versions), turn it into a wireless router without paying through my arse, and plenty of other cool tricks. Only trick is you need to be a bit more tech savvy. Better battery life/music playback on iPhone, video and web experience better on top quality android phones. Otherwise, you're basically comparing marginally different stats.
What do you think are the key features that you want on the phone? Just asking what phone to get is pretty much useless.

if you don't know shite about phones, guessing you want something to "just work". iPhone cannot be beat in ease of use and how intuitive it is.

Precisely. I heard someone say it this way once: with Android, you could spend all day long tweaking and modding your phone and getting it exactly the way you want it to look. With an iPhone, you can spend all day actually using it.
Both platforms are really good for their own reasons, it just depends on what you want to do with it. I'll try to lay it out as simply as possible.
TL;DR version: average user, go iPhone. Computer geek who likes to tweak stuff, Android.
Android: Options, options, options. First in choice of phone (HTC, Samsung, Motorola, LG, etc), and then with what you do with it. It's much more open to customization, you can make yours look and function completely different than anyone else's. It is also, admittedly, more advanced in terms of functionality than the iPhone. Widgets on the home screen, a more useful lockscreen, and several other benefits that you just don't get on iOS.
iPhone: Simplicity and ease of use. No, it may not be as powerful as Android, but I dare you to find someone who wasn't satisfied with their iPhone. It has practically no learning curve at all (my twin cousins could use one when they were 3), and it does enough to satisfy the average user.
Most importantly, go to your carrier store and pick them all up and play around with them for a while. Don't be in a hurry to run in, grab a phone and leave. Good luck!

Had an iphone 4, replaced it with a galaxy s3. I really like the bigger screen. Both phones do everything I want to do, the bigger screen is what sold me.

iPhones are for women and people who only want the basics out f a smart phone, which is fine till you discover what all is out there.
Maybe try looking at the DROID DNA. Heard some good things about it.

You have a droid, you should download googles music player. It will download all your itunes to a cloud system. Get the app and you can stream all your music to save memory or download whatever you do want to keep on your phone.

Funny, I guess I'm the only one who isn't a fan of huge screens on most android phones. 3.5 on the iPhone is a little small, yes, but I find 4.2-4.4 to be perfect. Anything bigger than that is too much for me, and I have normal sized hands, just like to keep everything within reach of 1 thumb. Manufacturers making android phones are actually turning me off with their obsession to have the biggest phone out there. Samsung makes the giant Note, and that's fine, just make big ones and then normal ones too. But the gap between them is shrinking. Hard to find anything below 5 inches today, except for the LG Nexus, and that one sucks. Just my 2¢ anyway, carry on.
