ALABAMA -- Matas Greek Pizza Grinders in Anniston

Reviewers love: The Greek-style pizza — featuring ingredients like feta cheese and olives — and Greek salad

Reviewers say: "You've never had pizza until you've had a Mata's Greek Pizza! There are no words to explain how delicious this pizza is!"

ARKANSAS -- Deluca’s Pizzeria Napoletana in Hot Springs

Reviewers love: The focus on fresh, local ingredients

Reviewers say: "Love this place. The pizza is expensive, but they use only the best ingredients and much of it locally produced."

FLORIDA -- Duetto Pizza and Gelato in Key West

Reviewers love: The care the restaurant's Italian owners put into every slice — and also, its out-of-this-world gelato

Reviewers say: "I'm a Southerner, where almost all pizza is fast food, but I was raised in New York where pizza was an art form. This is art. I had a pizza here with Gorgonzola and whole tomato slices on it that reminded me of what I had in my neighborhood pizzeria in NY 50 years ago. Just amazing flavor."

GEORGIA -- Antico Pizza Napoletana in Atlanta

Reviewers love: The commitment to an authentic Italian approach, including the use of a wood-fired oven

Reviewers say: "We read the reviews and had to try it for ourselves. It certainly did not disappoint. Very authentic wood-fired pizza in a very unique dining atmosphere. I had the lasagna pizza and my wife the margarita pizza. Both were very yummy. Would highly recommend everyone try this on their trip to Atlanta!"

KENTUCKY -- Fatkat’s Pizzeria in Georgetown

Reviewers love: The abundance of pizza toppings, as well as subs and wings to round out a dinner

Reviewers say: "The Pizza and wings here are GREAT! We have been told about this place for years. We waited way too long to come in, we will be back!"

LOUISIANA -- Wildwood Pizza in Alexandria

Reviewers love: The freshest-of-the-fresh ingredients, which make the toppings shine

Reviewers say: "Excellent pizza and service! The Beast is my favorite pizza. Salads are fantastic! Ingredients always fresh."

MISSISSIPPI -- Tony’s Brick Oven Pizzeria in Gulfport

Reviewers love: The distinctive seafood pizza cooked in a brick oven

Reviewers say: "Amazing!!! Tony’s is the ONLY place I religiously stop and eat at on a trip to or through Mississippi. The prices are very good, and the food is even better. I have been coming here for at least 5 years and will continue to do so!"

MISSOURI -- Pagliai’s Pizza & Pasta in Cape Girardeau

Reviewers love: The amazing sausage toppings

Reviewers say: "Any trip to Cape Girardeau without a trip to Paglias Pizza is a wasted trip. Not your stuffy cookie-cutter franchise pizza. One-of-a-kind marvelous pizza. Their Chicago spicy sausage is amazing. Try them, and they will quick become your favorite!"

OKLAHOMA -- Andolini’s Pizzeria in Tulsa

Reviewers love: The great lunch specials, and the salads to offset the hearty pizzas

Reviewers say: "Yum! Good service and great pizza. Had a white pizza with spinach and mushrooms and it was amazing. House salad with strawberries and candies nuts also amazing! Love stopping in when I’m in Tulsa area!"

SOUTH CAROLINA -- AJ’s Pizza in Myrtle Beach

Reviewers love: The flavorful carryout pizzas paired with wings and salads

Reviewers say: "This pizza surpasses any pizza you have ever tasted. Fresh ingredients, tasty crust cooked to perfection...none of that greasy chain restaurant pizza you may have experienced. Wings and salad are the perfect compliment.... Definitely added to my favorite list."

TENNESSEE -- Five Points Pizza in Nashville

Reviewers love: The happening East Nashville setting and killer stromboli (a turnover filled with Italian cheese and meat)

Reviewers say: "If you’re looking for something different than your standard pie, I recommend trying the Habanero Cream Pie, it’s unlike any other pizza I’ve ever tasted! And the garlic knots...SO yummy!"

TEXAS -- Home Slice Pizza in Austin

Reviewers love: The garlic knots — so good, they'll keep the vampires away

Reviewers say: "Go here immediately. Being from the east coast, I was skeptical about pizza here. It was amazing! Also at a great price. Friendly and fast service. We also had the garlic knots, which were great. They were large and more like garlic rolls."

I think an underrated pizza place in Alabama is Chuck's at Lake Martin. Their Chimney Rock pizza is absolutely amazing.

They got Tennessee right. 5 points pizza in Nashville is my favorite, eat there every-time I go.

Alabama and Georgia's locations are 3 hours closer to uf than this place. South carolina and Mississippi are 2 hours shorter. Tennessee is a tie Alexandria, LA is only an hour longer drive.

Went to Deluca's once...good pizza, but it wasn't $100 good.

Also went to 5 points pizza in nashville...it was VERY good and on the cheap end.

Mata’s shouldn’t even be top 5 in Alabama

Mater’s in Gadsden, Post Office Pies in Bham, and Valentina’s outside HSV are all better.

The pie maker at Valentina’s, Joe Carlucci, just won an International competition in Vegas and he legit wins some world championship almost yearly. He’s a master.

Agree with Mata's and Antico for sure. They are outstanding. I would buy a 5 gal bucket of whatever the Mata's salad dressing is. Haven't been to the others
