How did you end up with the close friends that you have?

I was thinking about this this afternoon.
I am 52 years old,and my girlfriend is 26, we have been dating for 3 years and she lives with me now.
I met her at a guitar shop, when she was just starting to want to learn to play, and I helped her find a good guitar for her. Things just happened from there.
All of my friends are welders,machinist,engineers,farmers, and teachers for some reason.
The one common thread between them all, they all play guitar at some level.
Realizing that maybe I choose like this without that I even know I might be doing it.
Am I limiting myself?

Most of my friends are from the classes I teach, now.
Most of my close friends were there with me in the military, or closely associated with the military when I contracted for the Army.
I've learned how to tell the good from the bad pretty fast, so I make close friends fairly easily.

I still have a couple of good friends from The Corps. We talk and visit sometimes,it's not like it used to be though.
It's like we have moved on.
The guitar player friends never seem to move on though.Somehow we remain in the same circles.

How does the age of your SO have anything to do with the fact that you are friends with mostly guitar players?
