Have you people heard of this high school game called Assassin?

Its pretty damn funny. So the Seniors at my daughters high school have this game where they all chip in some money, like $5. The point of the game is to shoot a water pistol and hit someone who is your target. Everyone gets one target. There are only two rules.
1. You cannot do it on school grounds or athletics events
2. If your target is wearing swim goggles and floaties they are immune from being targeted.
My niece had a boy show up at her house with a fake pizza delivery to try and get her but she saw on the security camera he had a water pistol in his back pocket. Another girl showed up at a boys house and told his parents she found his Air Pods and they let her in and she got him.
The last remaining Senior gets the pot

Yeah, my high school did something similar but we used Nerf guns (so rule #2 obviously wasn't applicable
).

This sounds like the suburban version of the no lackin challenge

Wouldn't half the class be remaining if everyone gets one target?

We played with real guns at my high school. I won as you can see.

Only if the targets were paired together. If a has b as their target and b has c as their target, 1 left is possible.

Yeah if only half the class had a target

The only way only one person is left standing is if you can still "kill" your target after you yourself have been "killed".

Sure, but if A eliminates B, then C has no one after them...
And if C eliminates D, then E has no one after them.
Thus a scenario where C and E are both left unhunted...

We had the same game, but after you eliminate your target, their target becomes your new one

Same. But school grounds were in play because at the time you could bring nerf “guns” onto campus and not get expelled.
There were also no ways of being immune. But that’s a kind of funny wrinkle.
