Has your university's football stadium ever hosted concerts with big name artists?

Not in many, many years.
Rolling Stones played Bryant Denny in the mid 70's.
Seems maybe Alabama played one there in the mid 90's, but I can't remember.

Clemson has a few year run of big names 90s and early 00s, Rolling Stones, U2, Pink Floyd, Billy JOel, Elton John, Rage against the Machine.
But doesn't appear they have booked any concerts in a long time. I thought it was weird it was able to get those big names but nothing since then.

I’m surprised these big venues don’t do this more often in the offseason. Seems like a waste to have them sitting empty all year save for maybe a dozen events.

I'm pretty sure Razorback Stadium did it at least once, in conjunction with Walmart Shareholders' week, which takes over the town every year for a week in June.
I can't remember who played, though. Shareholders Week is its own thing. Lots of celebs, concerts that it used to be easy to get into, but now are almost entirely reserved for Walmart people. They host global Walmart people, from all over the world, and put them up in the empty dorms on campus. Most of the big events take place at Bud Walton Arena.

They’ve never used the stadium it’s always been BWA. The outdoor concerts were always at the AMP. But the huge ones are always secret who is playing and always indoors.

I was at this show and Vandy’s stadium was a really good venue for a concert. It was small enough that there were no bad seats but still large enough to get the “stadium” feel.

Stones played Coleman as did the Grateful Dead

No, I'm pretty sure one year they did use the stadium. It was a one time deal. The AMP has only been a real place since 2014.

T Swizzle a few years ago + Bayou Country Superfest for years before they finally moved it out.
I don't like anything happening in that stadium other than LSU football

I'm going to show my age here but when I was at Ole Miss most of the concerts were in the Grove and they were free. So I saw:
311
RunDMC
Better than Ezra
Candlebox
Big Head Todd and the Monsters
The Tad Pad had two concerts when I was still in school and they were not free. Those were Everlast and Lenny Kravitz.
Not exactly "big" names but hey, they were fun to go to.

Saw the Eagles at Florida Field in 1980. Bernie Leadon and Don Felder were from Gainesville and this was the first time they came back after hitting it big. Probably 30-40k people there

The AMP was a real place before 14. Remember they moved it from the mall to fairgrounds then to current. It was moved for Wal-Mart both times. The tornado type winds took it out at the fairgrounds

Trying to decide between ATL and Vandy...not sure if I want to be out in the elements, although Nash will be cheaper and closer but sightlines may be terrible.
