My god, what the fck is wrong with that place? It's essentially a step above a 3rd world country. The people who are above the poverty line seem fine with keeping things status quo. The people below the poverty line are fine killing, stealing, scheming to try and get by.

I grew up down there and you'd have to quadruple both mine and my wife's salary for me to even consider living down there again and raise my family. Even then, I don't know if it would be enough.

If you don't know your way around down there, you can get hurt very quickly.

I don’t go to the city if there are any other options, and that has little to do with crime (although that doesn’t help). The city is constantly grubbing for money by hook or crook and I won’t “donate”.

I always say I miss NOLA....from the safety of where I am now. The LSU game this year should be an adventure

Think of yourself as Obi-Wan Kenobi. "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious."

That or, "As Jedi we are immune to Sexually Transmitted Diseases, this is a place to run wild with our peckers!"

Still a very unique place and worth visiting. Enjoy New Orleans for what it is. It's meant to be enjoyed.

Doesn't really seem much different than it's been my entire life. It's always been dangerous in certain areas.

I like NOLA too. Been dozens of times, no safety issues.

Just be glad you didn't have to attend more funerals before leaving, including your own

And over 10 million people go out of their way to visit every year. If you are creating threads like this about New Orleans (and there are plenty who do), it is time for you to ask what is wrong with you, and not what is wrong with the city.

I've been to both. Felt safer in Haiti.

Bourbon Street is great. The city doesn’t bother me it’s just a ginormous shite hole now with a few exceptions.
