And like an idiot I didn't call the cops to file a police report. He asked me to keep the insurance company out of it. I did get a picture of his insurance card. We were on the side of I-35 and I was late to work, so I wanted to get moving quickly. I got his phone number and insurance card pic then bounced. I drive a Mazda CX-7 and he was driving a Toyota Tundra. I stopped for a traffic jam and he hit me going about 5mph. Minimal damage. We noticed scratches on my bumper and that the sides had popped out. Once I got to work, I took a closer look at saw cracks under the lift gate of my back door as well as a dent on the back door. Now he is claiming the dent is too high to have been from his truck. Meeting him at lunch in the mall parking lot to see if his trucks grill lines up with the dent on my back door. Never dealing with this again. Next time I'm just calling the cops and following the standard procedure. Try and be nice and you might get fricked.

Update:

We met up at lunch in the mall parking lot. He is telling me there is no way his truck caused the dent to my back door and cracks in the lift gate. I told him I can go get an estimate and he can pay me or I will have to call the insurance company. Looks like I'm calling the insurance company. frick this guy. Here I was trying to be nice. This dent and cracks in the lift gate are new damage. I've never seen them before on my car. It happened this morning. I just hope the insurance company doesn't frick me now.

really depends on the final value and the state, but you dont always need to call the cops, as their report doesnt determine fault in an insurance capacity.

you can still have your insurance go after him and his insurance if all doesnt go to plan at lunch

I have only been involved in two accidents in my life. One that was my fault and another that wasn't, it is very annoying how subjective cops can be when writing tickets for accidents.

I have a picture of his insurance card and he doesn't want me to get the insurance company involved. If he doesn't show up I'm calling them immediately.

Cops likely wouldn't have even come out. They'd have just told y'all to exchange insurance info and let them deal with it.

Buy a tougher man car you little SJW. What a waste of time to call the cops on a 5mph bump.

Same here.

When I was a freshman in college I got rear-ended at a full stop at a major roadway's redlight. Exchanged insurances and then got a call from her insurance company with her saying I backed up at the red light (in the middle of a four lane road) and totaled her car. Such a pain in the arse. Luckily someone else witnessed it and gave me their info.

That is just another reason to at least try to get the cops out there. People are a lot less likely to pull shite like that when asked by the police. Maybe it is just because of where I live but I have never heard of police not coming out to an accident when requested.

Here, unless it's a potential injury accident or a situation where you're blocking a major thoroughfare, then they won't come.

some states require it, if you think the damage will be over a certain amount. I want to say Ohio is $1k
