The wife's anniversary is this weekend and were trying to decide which direction to go for a weekend getaway. We've never been to Texas or The Carolinas but would like to scratch one of those off the bucket list. What say you OT?

Carolinas offer the beach and the mountains. East Texas offers...scrub pines?

That is the saddest bucket list I have ever heard of.

My dear Lord, it's quite obvious that you have never been to both if this is even a question.

Go the carolinas. Do you have a specific carolina in mind, or a specific activity? Beach, mountains, old south charm, etc. That would be a factor in telling you where to go.

I love Texas and it's better than any of your states, but the answer here is Carolinas.

We were leaning towards Charleston or myrtle beach but thought Texas could be a fun trip. Lol. Guess I was wrong.

The carolinas bore the shite out of me generally, but Charleston is cool.

Gross. If you want beaches, head to the Outer Banks, Kiawah Island (Charleston), etc. Don't do Myrtle Beach.

Honestly I don't even know where someone would vacation in East Texas.

West Texas, like the Alpine/Ft. Davis area is amazing. Everyone needs to go to Big Bend once in their lives, it gives you a great perspective.

Central Texas and the hill country can be fun. If you are young Austin is a blast, if you are old Fredericksburg is nicknack heaven.

But East Texas? That really isn't a vacation.

Texas can be fun for sure. If I had serious $$$ to spend I could spend a week in Austin through San Antonio doing music in Austin, food, shopping in San Marcos, head out to FBurg for a bit of shopping and wine, float the river in New Braunfels, take the kids to Schlitterbahn, Six Flags, Sea World, and the San Antonio zoo, hit the riverwalk in SA, etc.

Dallas or Houston can be fun for a day or so and Big Bend is awesome, but other than that, I couldn't see coming anywhere in Texas for "fun." Especially east Texas.
