That’s because they can be such chameleons. You have to be in a very close relationship before experiencing their true natures. By then you may be marked as one of their victims, unfortunately.

Bowl Jackson. Though I don’t know him. He fits all the traits.

Jokes on you. I've never been married, let alone had "many short term marital relationships"

?? Does this means you have multiple skills like B&E and GTA ??

Back in the days of my youth all the cops in town were quite familiar with my mischievous ways. Became good friends with several of them as I got older and asked them if I was a problem child. They said no because I did not have certain traits that would have been "red flags" and many of the things caused them to laugh or listen to a well thought out plan.

I would not suggest doing any of them today as it would lead to a trip to the local city hotel and no passing "GO" or collecting $200.

Was never angry or malicious
Was not into property damage
Was not into theft for personal gain (borrowing was more like it)
Was not into injury of others
Was into certain rules and boundaries

I bet you could score under 5 and still have the ability to (or have) hurt someone.

Jack Lambert was very nice in person but pretty sure he was feared and hurt some people in his youth.

Also, pretty sure he loves animals (and not in the Clemson, sheep loving way)

Mischievous children and psychopathic children are extremely different. Mischievous kids, both boys and girls, quickly learn the boundaries within which they can have fun, the sense of what’s right and wrong from a social standpoint.

Psychopathic kids never consider anything but their own desires when being destructive. Instead of learning that it’s wrong to spray paint public spaces, for example, they learn that it’s bad for them to get caught. So they adjust their behavior in the direction of being more devious while the mischevious kid will adjust his behavior towards compliance with social rules.

All psychopaths are sociopaths but not all sociopaths are psychopaths. Think of psychopathy as a more severe form of sociopathy. Psychopaths are born but sociopathy is a learned behavior.

Sure. Not all serial killers are psychopaths, for example.

Well, did not think of serial killers. More like folks like me who did sports and had coaches who wanted us to hurt the other guy. Probably my era as guys returned from WWII and went into coaching. Not sure that would fly today. I know some of the guys I played with later went to serve and said boot camp was a breeze compared to our 2 and 3 a days.

Yeah, they're certainly not fun people. Thank goodness they're not the majority of people. True psychopaths make up only 1% of the population (conservative estimate) but nearly a quarter of the prison population.

And, of course, some people may not fall into the classification of psychopath but can have enough of the traits to make other people's lives miserable.

I honestly can’t think of one person in my regular social life that fits this scheme. I’ve encountered them I’m sure but I guess I don’t let them get close to me if they seem off. While I don’t have psychopaths in my family I do have many manipulative and narcisstic people and it’s made me good at judging those qualities in people I meet quite quickly. If they seem off I just avoid entanglements with them. Either I’m the psychopath or such a big dupe that I can’t tell them when they’re around me which is a possibility as well.

I hadnt until my sil, and even when we first met, it didnt shine through for a couple of years. But she is definitely a polarizing figure with her issues. pretty much everyone always ask what issues are new with her all the time. Then everyone listens in disbelief

I’m sure that most people’s only experiences with psychopaths comes from the news. Just because a person is difficult to deal with doesn’t mean he’s a psycho. Life is hard and people react differently to its trials.

At only 1% of the population, psycopaths are rare. Not all of them are monsters either. It depends on what they want out of life and how satisfied they are with what they’re getting. All of them may have the potential to be destructive but it can be held in check by what they’re experiencing in life. I wouldn’t think any of them could be loving, affirming parents or spouses but that doesn’t make them criminals.

Score key:

0 = most people
1-30 (1-25 in the UK) = not psychopathic but can manifest social problems
30-40 = have probably hurt someone. To be feared.

Clearly scores lots of points (always suspected white collar crime and tax fraud) so might score even higher. Probably never spent a day in jail but steals in a suit and a country club lifestyle. Probably way more dangerous than guys actually in jail but will never be seen in that light because he has money and standings. Related by marriage but not by blood.

Meh, a 7 doesn't seem too awful. I haven't committed any crimes besides speeding, underage drinking, and I egged a couple houses in my youth. Maybe I'm not scoring this correctly though.

So 6, not too bad
