I don't think so.
I graduated from A&M but am a bigger LSU fan. Wore LSU gear during my time at A&M and had to tell me life story to everyone who asked... grew up in Ponchy, moved to Houston area young, and then graduated from A&M. I made a full circle now that I work in BR

History degree from LSU. Have never needed my degree to be honest, but I make good money so I'm cool with it.

Accounting, LSU. Completed the LSUCIA program and that was much closer to the career I chose.

I love watching those HGTV shows where the couple is like
"I'm an ant farmer and my wife is a bartender at BWW. Our budget is 4.5 million."

I went to Bama and loved it. Thinking about doing grad school and getting my Public Administration degree, however I'm not sure that the reward will be worth it. Anybody have an MPA?

Interesting takes from people on this board so far. Question begs, do you have to be a graduate from your respective university to be a fan?

quote:I'm an Alabama alumnus and retired. I was blessed to have owned and sold a medium sized business (around 70 employees), and retired in my early 50s. My advice to you is twofold. First, you need to know what your cost of living increase will be. People often reduce their quality of living with a move like you're contemplating. Lastly, There is no amount of money to offset a move from a place that you love to one that you just tolerate.
I am asking $90,000 for my degree.
But, I will have to move to either Texas or the West Coast to match that money.
That is a large decision.
Hopefully you "older and wiser" guys can help me out.
I know that it's now easy for me to say, but bottom line, follow your heart not your wallet.

Interesting question. Can a person that never left their home state of Alabama or Tennessee really claim to be a Laker fan?

Didn't really attend LSU, but I spent A LOT of time there while at UNO. I did end up going to LSU for my Certified Occupational Safety Specialist cert and I'm currently paying for my daughter to go to summer school there, so I guess we're not all the way sidewalk. I wanted my daughter at LSU but now we're paying over 50 grand a year for her to be 1 of like a half a dozen physics majors at Loyola New Orleans which is the epitome of a liberal arts school.

Find something that you like (most people are good at what they like), and commit to being the best there is at it.
Clue: People who are elite at most anything make very good incomes.

People can identify with and vicariously live through pro teams of different regions just as easily as C on Z when he roots for Bama football, Kentucky Basketball, and LSU basketball( and the Lakers, Yankees, etc..)There really is no difference at all.
I went on a visit to Auburn in HS and didn't feel it was a great fit even though I worshiped their football team since I was 5. People are sensationalist fruitcakes if they believe the Auburn creed BS and that "they just knew" that Auburn was right for them once they stepped on that small campus.
Being an alumnus isn't what sparks the affinity for a favorite team. Going to the Freshman Writer's class at 08 on MWF isnt going to make anybody more of a Auburn/Bama fan that night at the basketball game. As far as I'm concerned, being a student and being a fan are two different and independent realms that never have to synchronize in order for one's experience to feel complete. I went to school at Bama from 07-11 and I'm willing to bet a quarter of the student pop didn't even know who the starting QBs for Alabama were during that time. Not to mention that there were several professors that ended up bitching and moaning about the quality of college education whenever the topic drifted off to Bama's multimillion dollar stadium or football team.

I attended 5 different colleges. Hold degrees from three of them, including UK and UGA.
