I did. I played at Jacksonville State from 97-00. Back then we played in the Southland conference, and one of my best games came against Stephen F Austin in Nacogdoches. I was a slot receiver throughout my career and that day I was often covered on spread formations by a LB that turned out to be Jeremiah Trotter. I ended up with 4 catches for 80 yards. We did have one play where it called for me to cut block him on a wide run. Long story short, he went to the ground, but my shoulder felt like it was still on the 20 yard line while the rest of my body made it to the sideline. It was like hitting a Mack truck.
Some of my favorite games to play were the games in Louisiana. Games against McNeese and Nichols were always packed houses and always loud. Loved those atmospheres.
The coaches I played for ended up in really high places actually. Here are some of them...
Doug Meacham was our OC. He is now the Co-OC for TCU. Patrick Nix and Mike Bobo were our QB coaches during my time. My position coach at WR was Jason Simpson, who is now the Head Coach at UT Martin. The DB coach/DC was Charles Kelly who is now famously at FSU.
I did go on to play for 2 years in the Arena Leagues and ended up as a scout in the front office after that for a few years before embarking on a professional management career.

Thanks. You also might appreciate the fact that I was heavily recruited by Bill Curry and Joker Phillips to come to UK. Went up for my official visit in 96, ironically for the UGA game, and had an absolute blast. I wanted to go so badly, but Coach Curry got fired and Hal Mumme was hired and I never got back up to Lexington after that. Joker called me to keep touch, but an offer never came. I would have been a Wildcat had Curry not been let go.

I played 2 years at a Juco. Started at tight end as a freshman for 3 games then got moved to starting right tackle because our tackle was injured. That move kept me from getting a D1 scholarship because I was built like a tight end/defensive end and couldn't get my weight over 260 lbs

Hell, no. Was recruited by some academic inclined D1 schools. Rutgers was the most notable. I'm 5'8" on a good day and they projected me at 235-245lbs playing fullback. I was right at 200. Couldn't see myself putting on that naturally and damn sure didn't want to put the wear and tear on my body. I got a couple of friends that did and they hobble around like they're 30 years older than me.
And although steroids were never mentioned, When I asked how the hell was I gonna put on 40 more lbs of muscle, I was told "there are ways" at almost every school I looked at. It's a shame kids are encouraged to do PHD's even at the shittier, less successful programs. Not to condone it at any level, but damn!!! It shocked me how common place it was and how damn near EVERYBODY did them.

Negative. I was an ATA for a D1 program though and it was a lot of fun seeing the inside of a football program like that.

Haha! No, Lorenzen was younger than me. I did play with a former Baylor QB named Jermaine Alfred.

i played for southern university 13,14. Although d-1 fbs use to kick our arse before halftime I enjoyed playing. I saw jj watt and co lift as we walked into the locker room to play the university of Houston. northwestern state from the southland kicked our arse too lol but hey I won a conf championship in 13 and lost in the title game in 14. That Houston game was horrible, it was soooo long I think they put 63 on us. we didn't give a shite tho we already saw that coming we wanted to party after game.

I had an offer to be a preferred walk-on at UNA at WR. I never really cared much about football and went to Bama to frick around instead. I regret it sometimes but I likely would have never had the motivation to do anything good.

Yeah closest I got was an offer my freshman year to be a walk-on for TAMU basketball. Mainly because I play good defense and have a streaky shot.
No way I would have made that team, though. We were actually good in '06. Billy Gillispie coaching, Acie Law IV and DeAndre Jordan ballin'. I'm way too short and never had the speed to play at that level.
Plus, the Corps was already taking up most of my time and I was there on a military scholarship. Ended up playing for the Corps bball team for a few years and had a lot of fun (and obviously no pressure

If I had made an effort to lifting weights and gaining bulk, I may have had better opportunities. I'm a lanky sonofabitch, but had I gotten up to 220 or 230 I'd have been a serviceable wideout or TE. Might have been a good basketball player but I never tried.
I was more concerned about the grass off the field than on it, though.

That was (and still is) my weight range. Would have loved to try to play some LB or something, but even though I had the frame, I didn't have the experience.
