Played a pick up game at the rec center with Antonio McDyess and Jason Caffey.

Does that count?

It actually wasn't bad. You could tell they were only going 100% against each other. I was on McDyess's team, and Caffey could have easily blocked a layup of mine, but didn't. Of course I missed it thinking he was going to block it. McDyess got mad at me for not taking a shot when he passed it to me.

Oh man..

You just told us a college sports story in the tone of a 3rd grade show-n-tell presentation.

Way to be a dick without any impetus.

Sometimes we have to cut each other down so we can help each other grow.

The story was uncomfortably egotistical. Terribly told. And in the tone of a 3rd grader standing in front of the class.

Walk into a locker room, get on a team bus, be involved in a locker room centered team sport and you'll see that treating each other that way helps each other.

There really is only one sport like that, hockey.

Football -- no real locker room atmosphere until college, and still, it's so segregated between positions.

Soccer -- lol.

Baseball -- show up and play

Basketball -- same.

Hockey -- kids are in the locker room atmosphere from as early as 5-6. All through adolescents. High school. And beyond. Which is why a culture and language and attitude for hockey players is stronger than most sports. There are bonds and things created when you're packed into a small room with all your brothers, and on cramped buses. You can say mean things to each other, but only to help the other person see themselves in a better light. It's complicated. You all probably won't understand.

Summary: Being a dick isn't being a dick, all the time. There are variables.

Wrestling has a locker room atmosphere among teammates from a young age? No. Not true.

I used to think pro teams let lil kids teams do that out of good faith..

Saw a flyer at a rink recently, it's like a few thousand bucks for a team to do that during intermission.

Used to be free to the kids

The mighty mites in Canada started at age 2 or 3 where I used to visit often.

Pretty crappy if they are charging for the exhibitions at the pro venues. The think I miss most about the old days were the pot lucks and free skates after the games. Now it is all corporate so you can't bring in home cooked food and they don't allow the post game free skate.

Kids 2-3 played during intermission? Highly doubtful.

No, played on "teams" that early where family was in Canada. They start very young up there. Not sure how old they were when they got to play in something like that. 4 - 6 maybe?

That's what I thought you meant.

Which makes no sense in this conversation. Forgot how dumb and illogical you were. Weird.

They start that young here too. Me at 3.

3-4, that's learn to skate, learn to play. Don't really do the locker room thing at that age which is why I said 5-6 when I was talking about locker rooms, not when people start playing.

You seem pretty obsessed with locker room atmosphere. That's weird. It didn't mean as much to the rest of us

I have played all kinds of sports and it was in an age where we showered so we did not wear the stink home.

This would be a good time for you to tell the class why basketball is superior to water polo and cricket.

With the obvious assumption that it is inferior to all other major sports.

Stop talking to me.

Unless you feel like sharing your transgender story.

Then I'll listen, but only bc I was recently accused of being insensitive towards transgenders.

So, I figure I owe ya guys one.
