Good list from GA and TN!

BTW - I'm not that big a country music fan either. I do like the older stuff up to about 1998. The tail end of decent country music was stuff by Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Byrd, Ricky Van Shelton, Tracy Lawrence, Sammy Kershaw, etc.

One thing about my list is it actually has more Okies than Texans, although there are a ton more I didn't list for no particular reason from Texas.

Per capita, Oklahoma is probably #1. The population is barely more than half that of DFW, yet they have churned out tons of CMA artists, along with some of the better Red Dirt bands.

The real father of Bluegrass music

Without Johnny brining the music out after WW I most of it would have been lost to time. Real American too.

Lt Niles in WW I

When I was a young man got to spend time with both he and his wife down at Bramble Farm (a real hard boot place) enjoying their company and their cookin.

I know you young kids think modern country is country but nobody was better than Carlos Toadvine (stage name Little Elis) who could play a guitar upside down and backward. The bio below says he was from Boyle County KY but I am almost positive his people were from Bourbon County KY.

He may have been one of the best pickers I ever saw in person and if you can find the famous pic of him and the topless go go girls from the old "Boots Bar" was a classic. Not well know in the general public as he played a lot of blue venues back in the day.

RIP

He was not good lookin, but he sure could play

Yeah Sturgill and Childers are the only two I need. Throw in Jason Isbell (not country) and that’s about the majority of my playlists

The Bakersfield sound which is country music influenced by rock music.

The type of music that Nashville fought hard against.

Clint is from Texas. I generally go by where they grew up and not where they are born.

Yes but moved to Helena, Arkansas as a small child from Friars Point and graduated high school in Helena.

The Jenkins family was given the key to the city of Helena.
