Outstanding observation! Sometimes people just need someone to talk with, someone that will listen.

That's awesome I'm trying myself

I drink too much and I know it. I am proud of you though I do not know you. Good job and keep it going.

Congrats you’re a badass, sir.
I don’t have your particular issues but I think if we are being honest we all have our own demons one thing or another - my point being, your post still resonates with me and somehow brings me comfort.

How did you do it?
Read through the thread and then ask any questions that you have. I feel like I would be repeating myself a bunch of I just started from the beginning.
One thing that I haven't mentioned is that I had to stop hanging out with all of the people that I was either doing drugs with or getting drugs from. I deleted all of their numbers from my phone and made a complete lifestyle change. It can be pretty boring at times, but I've really gotten to the point that I enjoy the quiet now.

Congrats, man! I knew there was a sense of "inner-peace" with you by the nature of your posts, but didn't know why. Just so you'll know, your posting personality makes you appear to be a likable, level-headed person, so I guess that's another positive take-away from your success.
PS- Since this Covid crap, I've started drinking too much beer...also put on 25 lbs. I've workout for over 50 years, and it's gotten a helluva lot harder with this extra weight.
Maybe this will help me cut back/off my consumption.

Thanks, coach.
I've been dealing with some nagging back and foot injuries the last couple of years and it's affected my workouts as well. I need to drop about 20 lbs myself. Been going good lately though. Just got off the treadmill as a matter of fact. Get out there and get after it!

I've got emphysema, but I'm still knocking out 2 miles on the treadmill at 3.7 mph...It's kicking my arse with all this extra weight!

This isn't a post to brag. This is a post to let people that are struggling know that there is hope. I was using everything except heroin, pcp and crack and using it regularly.
Good for you. My father and grandfather both completely ruined their lives through alcohol. I've never touched the stuff and (at this point) certainly never will.

Man, that's super impressive. My dad was a raging alcoholic with severe anger issues and my dumbass followed right in his footsteps. Good for you for being better. That's awesome.

So, I had over a year of counseling to fall back on then started to realize that my issues stemmed from my anger which stemmed from being unsatisfied with who I was. Once I figured out to be a better version of myself I was able to correct my way of thinking. I didn't need the drugs to numb away my problems because I wasn't as angry about everything all the time and I could work through problems logically instead of breaking things then snorting pain pills.
Man this made my day. Congrats on sobriety!
