I agree 100%.
The problem is that a lot of people on both sides can't accept honest opinions and reactions as anything other than insults.
I VERY STRONGLY believe in the freedom of religion in that I see it as a freedom of belief. In a free society, people should be able to believe whatever the hell they want so long as they don't harm others in the process. If you want to believe in Jesus/Allah/Moses/Buddha/nothing then that's great. You do you.

That's not my intention at all with this thread. I simply want answers

The answers you seek will not be found on the SECr, my friend.

Every once in a while I'll feel like it... I just happened to have a few drinks earlier so I actually went through with it

And this isn't necessarily a troll thread per se... it's something I wonder about, and wonder why other people don't wonder it too

Why do people expect other people to have the capacity to explain a God that isn't human?
Anyways...
From my point of view, the biblical book of Job is chock full of answers to the question that I think you're asking but it's not the answers you want because what you REALLY want is for someone to agree with you and your premise that God allowing suffering makes no sense.
ETA: you're not dumb. You should realize that no one in this thread is going to give you any clarity on this issue if you're mind is already made up.

Now that's funny right there.

You're a good guy sorntbl. I appreciate you actually taking this seriously because a lot of the time, questions like this aren't because they're assumed to be trolling.
I have read Job before but I'm still unsatisfied. I guess I'm just sorta venting here that things just don't make sense, but people still want to make sense of them with explanations that further don't make sense. (No I'm not stoned). Idk. It's just complicated. But I do appreciate your response

I believe because I choose to believe. I don't claim to know who or what God is, I just believe there is something out there and it plays a major role in our day to day lives. Why he, she or it does the things it does is not for me to ask. I believe there is a purpose behind it all.

I honestly dont know any nonbeliever who disagrees with this.
My issue with religion is when it begins negatively influencing secular society, which we see in obvious ways with Islam and more subtle ways with christianity involving science and moral legislation.
In the end, its far more often that the religious refuse to live and let live.

The only answer I can honestly give consists of four words – “I do not know.”
I cannot stand in the shoes of God and give a complete answer to that question. I don’t have God’s mind. I don’t see with God’s eyes.
I Corinthians 13:12- “Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.”
We can’t understand everything from our finite perspective.

I think asking a believer to explain why they believe beyond "I just do" is reasonable. If they cant defend their belief, maybe they start asking questions.

IMO, Job is very strong logical evidence against the christian God.

Because you can't understand God, he is not real? That's laughable.
God is God. He's not here to make our time on earth super-convenient and easy. Sorry to break the bad news.
I've had God shine through in some dark places before, seen people healed, seen others die.
Why does God chose some and not others? I don't know.
