Old Grandad Bottle in Bond is some of the best bourbon for the price. But shhhhhh don't let the secret out
For real, it's a steal for how good it is

I have been into Jameson Caskmates lately.

Also been dabbling in Scotch and have found Balvenie to be a great starting point for beginners but is a little too pricey for me to drink regularly

Someone always smuggles some of that on one of my canoe trips every year. It’s always the last thing left and the last thing we drink on Saturday night and leads to a roaring hangover.

That night was bad. It was right before I got out of the military and we lived on base. We always used to rent and just have our casual friends from work come over. Our neighbors were pretty cool and got along great. Like you're free to come and go. Got along great with the guy because we had different jobs but had a lot of the same things done that we could relate to.

Anyways, we drank all the time. He was in an instructor billet and I was short time on a medical issue. We'd have tons of time off and would start drinking at noon most days. Mind you this is a pretty high and low time for me in life.

Well, that's some background. Anyways, one night before he deployed and we were getting ready to leave, we had a party. Started off I think drinking just beer. Then his wife was passing shots. I thought of the brilliant idea to run across the street and get my birddog. Yep, bad idea. Passing it around, it was killed quick.

Supposedly, I ended up back home. My wife made me a bowl of left over Alfredo pasta. I was eating pizza earlier in the night though. Well, I guess I face planted into the bowl of pasta. Then proceeded to fall on the floor. Wife I'm sure mad as hell, gets me to bed.

Next thing I know I wake up. I'm laying in vomit on my bed with my wife standing over me. Not only did she let me sleep in it, she was waiting for me. Mad as hell and demanding that I figure out my situation. Long story ending with me throwing this puke ridden mattress behind a random barracks dumpster and going to Sam's club still fricked up to buy a mattress.

Sorry for the long story but that's my birddog story

Basil Hayden, easily the smoothest bourbon you'll ever pass through your undeserving gullet.

Bourbon so stealthy it might as well be called the Bill Cosby.

Favs = Daily drink bourbon = Evan Williams
Top Drawer Bourbon = Knob Creek or Blantons

Fav Irish Whisky = Red Breast or Green Spot to Teeling Edge to Red Breast

Scotch = not really a scotch drinker.

Bourbon—I have Basil Hayden right now. Good stuff

I’m more of a scotch guy though. I have Lagavulin and Glenlivet nadurra right now. Big fan of laphroaig 10. Balvenie is good too
