I haven't listened to it in years. It was always unbearable to listen to though.
It's on the air because those 3 guys have so many local connections they're able to bring in tons of ad revenue.

Yeah, pretty clear that's the reason. No doubt some Shelby County gump will shell out tons of money just so he can hear Jay Barker endorse his body shop.

Opening Drive is terrible.
As the poster mentioned above, it's only on because of ad revenue. They bring absolutely zero content.

We could only be so privileged to have a National Champion quaterback, a Superbowl kicker and Birmingham radio "legend." Its like they came up with that to try and give some kind of validty to the show. Worst show on the JOX lineup by far and maybe in the history of Jox. Its ONLY good during college football season when national guests are on. Sponsors must love them some Jay Barker.

I have met dozens of former players in the SEC and he is one of the most arrogant. He is no where near the kind of ambassador for the tide like Bart Starr, Shaun Alexander, etc.

The thing that always blew me away with the OD was how unprepared they were for interviews. They'd have a guest on and it seemed like they just improvised with their questions, or asked impertinent questions.
In the end, the callers were what made me quit listening. Just awful.

Yeah, they are terrible at that. They are on complete cruise control. They have no competition and their "name" gets them the ad revenue they need. So why be creative or do any prep? Nothing about that show makes me want to be a regular listener.
Still amazed how Barker takes so many vacation days. He even takes off National Signing Day every year. Makes no sense.

The callers are horrible. I'm pretty sure Al and Jay have never prepared for the show judging by the inaccurate and uninformed shite that they say.
