You might think this thread title is a joke, but I think a 1 year old dog is smarter than a 1 year old human. For those who agree with me, what age does the human become smarter than the dog?
Do those who disagree, how is a one year old human smarter than a one year old averagely trained dog?

I don't think that's the case, but yes, certain animals are smarter more quickly than humans. Chimps become smarter than humans up to 9 months. They more quickly recognize that if you put an object out of their sight that it doesn't mean that the object has ceased to exist. But once 9 months pass, humans are easily the smartest: LINK

The ban thread is better. I like it. I'll start flat earth tonight if nobody else does.

I’d argue that service dogs, whether it’s helping blind/disabled people to being a drug/bomb sniffing dog, are smarter than 25% of the adult population.

So a 30 year old human isn’t as smart as 5 year old dog?

The Ignorance Project has shown that at times we are worse then chimps when it comes to answering multiple choice questions.

Given a multiple choice question with three answers the chimp will have about a 33% chance of getting an answer right by randomly flinging feces at one choice.

But on a series of questions about topics like "what is the average life expectancy of a human being" people tend to get 16% of the questions right.

Its because we've become trained to expect the very worst from watching the news and reading internet articles. You can't set foot outside your front door without getting shot in Chicago, Africa is nothing but jungles and civil wars, and most of the world doesn't even have electricity according to us.

There is a lot of truth to jokes like this from Skeptical Spectacles about the Hawaii lava flows. (Give it a few seconds to load) LINK

We have become so used to only seeing bad news that we think things are far worse then they actually are. Our perception of reality is so flawed that the average person will score worse then that chimp randomly flinging feces. In other words, we're just smart enough to make ourselves really dumb.

Which explains why I remain hopeful every season that this will be the year that Arkansas football turns the corner and does really well.

The average dog is as smart as a two year old child.

My daughter (3) could take over the world and that's not a brag. Shed also convince our dogs to go along with her. Dogs are 10 & 8 (in human years)
