Moved into an apartment with a nice, covered balcony I'd like to decorate with it warming up. Ideas for some good potted plant varities to put out there? I'm in Zone 6b and the area we're talking about is partial sun/shade.

TIA

Fuscia and lobelia are both pretty flowers that should grow well in that environment. Most herbs like full sun, but lavendar is pretty and fragrant if you can find a variety that would thrive in part shade. Ferns would work well too. Lots of varieties would work on a balcony.

Cannabis is pretty good. Smells great when it's budding.

City gardener here

Last year we grew tomatoes and banana peppers. Probably do those 2 again and maybe another pot of 2 more items. I'd like to grow jalapeños this year

I have a friend who just bought a gigantic house with a gigantic basement. We smoke together. We also have the same weed dealer who leaves us hanging and I'm sick of treating this like I'm a college kid still. So we're growing 4 plants down in his basement.

Lavender will also help keep mosquitos away.

I've done potted tomatoes at a previous place but I don't think this balcony gets near enough sun for it.

I thought about maybe bell peppers.

I have a friend that walked away from a 6 figure corporate world job and moved to Cali and grows it. He's up to about 400 plants. He brought some to me a few months ago when he was back home and it's the best stuff I've ever smoked. My garage smelled like it for 3 days after he left. Gorilla Glue is what it was called.

unsure where you live, but this is more serious than talking about fight club. in the spirit of no smell no tell, you'll want to invest in a really nice carbon filter.

Currently the tops of what you can get. On the deep web markets, stuff that is extremely high grade runs 220/oz. Gorrilla Glue, though, runs about 310 or 320. It will put you on your arse.

Someone who isn't me or you would do a bit of light googling for deep web retail sites that offer illicit goods that NO ONE should purchase. Things can be had cheaper than is usual for those with diligence.

I bought this thing from Home Depot called a City Picker. It's got wheels on it and designed for a porch or balcony. Wheels are so you can roll it into the sunlight and whatnot. It's pretty cool. Holds I think up to a gallon of water and the way it stores and drains it's impossible to drown your plants. It's kind of cheating. We got probably 50-60 banana peppers and maybe 25-30 tomatoes last year off this one thing.

Me and my buddy grew 2 plants in college. Didn't have a clue what we were doing so the buds themselves looked like crap. However, as anyone who has ever grown themselves before will tell you, it was the best shite I've ever rolled up. Been smoking pretty consistently for a decade and I could only finish about 1/2 a J. It was intense. Would definitely do again but living in an apartment atm.

Basil requires surprisingly little sunlight compared to other herbs, if you're not just looking to decorate.

I'm glad you mentioned this. I'm going to grow 8-12 plants this year, and need to either get some clones mutual friend that has really good genetics. If that doesn't work out, I'll have to start sprouting seeds very soon.

I doubt anyone here knows if it's worth the extra money to but feminized seeds.
