I love it. I've only been a handful of times but it's got some nice bars and restaurants downtown. The aquarium is cool (probably not what you're looking for ). Stick Fingers BBQ was pretty good. It's got several decent spots to post up and have a drink somewhere downtown.

There's a choo-choo. I don't know much, but I know there's a choo-choo train.

Heard good things about it over the last year, but not enough for me to visit. Last time I was there, it was still the Choo Choo and Rock City - but hey - how can you beat Rock City?

Chattanooga look outs game(AA), The river walk, Aquarium, Lookout mountain, Ruby Falls, etc.

Great family city, but depending on your age and what you're looking for in terms of nightlife, I think it's lacking quite a bit for a city it's size.

Outdoor options are just about endless though.

This will be one of our stops on our Anniversary trip

Take your wife to The Stone Fort Inn.

My wife and I did a staycation there a few months ago, and it was great. Very cool little B&B downtown, without being ostentatious. I also like the Read House, too, moreso than the Chattanoogan.

There's plenty to do, depending on what you're into. Nightlife is OK- but nothing spectacular. It's a great stop for a history buff, though, as there a surprisingly decent number of museums and such to check out. I would absolutely visit Point Park and Chickamauga, if you're into that kind of thing.

The dining options are where Chatt has really taken off in the last several years. St John, Easy Bistro, Hennen's, Alleia, are all good bets for something pricey. But there are some pretty good inexpensive joints, too, such as Taco Mamacita, Terminal, Boathouse, Tupelo Honey (one of my favorites), Blue Plate, and Big River.

Fort Mountain State Park in nearby Dalton is gorgeous, and I've heard great things about Cloudland Canyon, though I've never been. If your wife is somewhat adventurous, I'd also suggest rafting the Ocoee - while you still can.

For the most part, I like living here pretty well. Where is your offer? You just said "Tennessee," but I'm assuming it's in Chattanooga. Just curious about what part of town, is all.

I can second the Stone Fort Inn. Stayed there for a long weekend after I came home from deployment about 10 years ago. Walking distance to some restaurants/bars. Hot tub on the balcony...good times.

The offer was in the Manchester area but I heard some not so great things and thought I'd checkout The surrounding areas.

Honestly don't know much about Manchester, so I can't help you there.

Best of luck to you in your decision, and I hope you enjoy your stay in Chatt.

If you can't enjoy the Tennessee Aquarium, I don't care what age you are, you're doing something wrong

Awesome town. One of my friends used to live downtown and we could walk to dozens of bars and restaurants. Lots of other stuff to see as well like the aquarium, several attractions on Lookout, and lots of outdoors activities. Very cool town. If it wasn't 400 miles from the Gulf, I'd have no problem living there.

Actually going up on Saturday with the whole family. Mom and Dad drive up there a lot on weekends. I haven't been since I was a kid but I've heard great things about Tupelo Honey and Tony's in the Art District as far as restaurants go. We'll probably do the River Walk and the Aquarium. May even do the Southern Belle riverboat if anyone has experience with that.

And as a kid growing up in North GA, I'm nostalgic as all hell for Fort Mountain and Cloudland Canyon. Honestly, I may have to swing through their at some point this weekend; perfect parks to visit in the Summer.

What's the skinny on Chattanooga? I'm headed there soon and wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions for things to do, the best place to stay, Nightlife, etc.

Avoid the situations of Homeland Security near The Boat House on Amnicola Highway. 4/5 Stars
