30-year-old ordered to vacate parents' home claims they harassed him Good Morning America KARMA ALLEN,Good Morning America 52 minutes ago Reactions Reblog on Tumblr Share Tweet Email A 30-year-old man court-ordered to vacate his parents' home on Tuesday said he should be given more time to leave because of how much his parents "harassed" him about moving out.
quote:
"I'm not bothering them by living here," Michael Rotondo said in an interview with ABC News' "Good Morning America." "It's little to no cost to them, and considering how much they've harassed me, I think it's the least that they should be required to do, which is just let me hang here a bit longer and use their hot water and electricity."
quote:
"I don't like living here at all," he said. "My parents and myself are like two parties that don’t speak the same language."
quote:
"It's a very serious thing to me to get out, but I have rights, and that's really what it boils down to. I just want a little more time to get out of here."

I highly doubt that, Michael.

God damnit, man. I hate the generation I'm associated with. Stop being a freeloader and get a job.

Well, that certainly doesn't reinforce any generational stereotypes, does it, Michael?

It's the parents' fault. You reap what you sow....looks like Dr. Spock claimed another victim.

I simply don't understand the mentality of someone who still lives with his parents after becoming a legal adult.
First of all, I didn't have the option to stay anyway. My stepfather started telling me at age 14 that I had 3 options when I turned 18:
1. You can go to college
2. You can go join the military
3. You can go get a job
Notice the key word, "GO".
But I was fine with that, I couldn't wait to leave the house at 18. I left at 17 because I wanted to get out so bad. And I love my parents.
I kinda understand sticking around for the first year of college or for a few months after college, I didn't do it, but I guess it's acceptable. Obviously, kids with severe disabilities are the exception.
But damn, where did this mentality come from?

He definitely looks the part.
I had no choice but to go to college. After I graduated, my parents gave me a used SUV and said I could have 2 weeks at home, and so not to bother packing anything to bring back home. I didn’t even take them up on that.

My parents let me come back for a couple months post graduation under the condition I was out by my 4th paycheck with the job I had just picked up. Basically gave me 2 months to settle into the new job and find a place/save for the deposit. Wasn’t the most fun I’ve ever had but I’m appreciative.
