NBA radio Rick Kamla and AD on John Wall

They think Wall's best fit would be with Pels, only in a buyout though. Rick suggested using the MLE (which we still have available) on Wall, something like a 2/20 deal.
I think I would like that, Wall/NAW/Ingram/Zion/Val with Graham/Sato/Hart/Trey/Hayes off the bench.
Thoughts?

Great idea
I look forward to hearing that he signed a 1 year - $17,390 deal with a team in L.A. or New York

If the 2nd year is a team option sure, but we also don't have an available roster spot to my knowledge.

We don't have an open spot, however Wenyen is on a NG contract, so he would likely have to go.
Second year would be a player option, reason being Wall would be trying to guarantee he gets some of the money back he gave up in the buyout (40 million or so)

The spacing issue would rival last years, but the raw talent would be improved.
I wouldn’t say no, but I’m not sure I’d agree it’s the best fit.

If anything, he can teach Zion the value of getting your money now before you blow your knee out and tank your value.

Could 100% see him landing in Brooklyn to replace Kyrie if he refuses to get the vaccine.

I'm actually excluding Wenyen and including Herb Jones.

I'd only want him on a really cheap or 1 year deal playing spot minutes, like 15 mpg or something. Anything else is a no for me.
I don't want a guy playing 32 minutes a night at guard shooting 31% from 3.

Doubt we’d get him. Especially if it’s a min deal. He’s probably prefer to go to a contender with that kind of offer

Only shot at getting stars is through trades.
Nobody in demand is choosing to come to the Pels right now. So there is not shot on John wall coming here after a buy out. That’s just reality.
A winning season or two should change that hopefully.

Those two dudes are super annoying. Ya boy Rick is an idiot who talks too loud

We would have to pay him to get him here. We are the only team left with the full MLE and the only ones that could offer him the most money, along with playing time.
He could take a minimum deal with a contender, but then he would be giving up even more money in the long run by losing what he gave in the buyout, plus not getting minutes so he loses the opportunity to show himself and get another bigish contract. He's only 31, if he can get a buyout and land on a team he can actually play 28-30 mpg for, show himself, then he's still got an opportunity to land another deal with someone that maybe willing to pay him.
It also would go a long way in the national media narrative that Zion has no help and needs to get out (which is bullshite)

Forgot about Herb.
Creating a spot wouldn't be a big issue though, you do it if he would come.

John Wall isn’t a star anymore.

I’m down for John Wall. Don’t care how slow he is as long as he can keep everybody under control and get us calmly into our sets.

If Wall gets a buyout, he has no need to get a deal over the minimum for any seasons where Houston is paying a buyout.
This is a standard deal whenever a player takes a buyout. Any contracts he gets for seasons covered by the old team are dirt cheap. Any seasons after that point are at market rate.

Why would he take a buyout? He is guaranteed 90M over the next two years. Why take less?

Houston will not give him a buyout unless he gives up a significant chunk of money.
Their reasoning was based on noteam that makes sense will trade for him with his current contract, and by Thanksgiving he will get antsy and want to play, so he maybe more prone to giving up 20-30 million to get a buyout.
In that scenario he would have to go to a team that he can actually get real minutes on, and still make the most money possible, and with Pels having a "need" for another vet player and having the most money available to offer via MLE, it would be the best "fit" for Wall.
