I think they are a 7-5 team unless Simmons plays at an All SEC level and the DT depth is better than advertised. They get elite play from both of those positions and they stand a chance of clipping OM and OU. Hard to pick them against aTm, UT, and UGA regardless of QB and DT play.

Did you forget who is the HC? How come the team went downhill after beating OSU.

it is a good question. Drink hasn't punched above his weight at all while he has been here. He beats the ones he should but the complete lack of SEC upsets over 6 seasons is...remarkable.

Mizzou hasn't had remarkable QB play for a long time. We have had gritty above average for Mizzou QBs but not real top level QB play. If Simmons really comes of age at Mizzou, the offense may be good enough to catch UGA or UT. A&M I think is a loss no matter what Simmons does

Simmons enters the season with a much higher floor than Pribula. Simmons has the hole shot and seam in his bag and the safeties will have to respect it. If he can make all the chain moving throws between the hashes to compliment the running game the sky is the limit offensively.

Are you saying he is similar to Chase Daniel?

Hot take: Brady Cook will be known as the best Mizzou qb for this decade.

I personally don't see Eli developing all these transfer qbs into anything close to Brady. It's a combination of them not staying in the system, Eli's lack of qb development, and us not getting the top tier qbs in the first place.

Hotter take: The combination of Riley and Simmons will produce the best QB play that we've seen since 2018 Drew Lock..

Riley has done his best work when his primary role was developing the QB. Shane Buechele and Tanner Mordecai both flourished in their one season each under his guidance. Max Duggan became a Heisman runner up in his only season with Riley.

Why not add the new OC to the list?

Sure, I think Chip Lindsey will play a role. Riley was brought in specifically to work with the QBs though, so I believe he will have a larger impact on QB play.

Texas A&M at home and Arkansas on the road 2 years in a row is ...interesting.
