What do y'all think of the job Ricker did in year 1?

I know I had some doubts early in the season and others expressed concern here as well. I don't remember as much being said as the season went on. Thought the line improved with time. Had to be a hard position to come into the game so late. All things considered, I thought he did a pretty solid job in year 1. Year 2 may be more telling though.

We need 2 tackles, bad. Interior of the line is good. Morse was solid, but he is graduated. East does have some solid DE's returning.

Well, hopefully Cuellar is an answer. Maybe Rhodes or one of the youngsters on the other side.

I'm interested to see him fully implement his changes in the offseason. Maybe they'll be exactly what we need to keep improving offensively in the SEC.

Not sold yet. The shuffling early made me scratch my head. Next year will tell how good he is.

They did seem to develop as the year went on and adjusted to change in personnel. I'd be loathe to change schemes again, so I'd say let's see what this year brings.

Hard to measure their pass blocking as MM wouldn't step up in the pocket. But their second half run blocking was outstanding. Wish we could have run better in the first half of games.

I think Ricker is solid, but will need the help of better recruiting.

Too early to tell. I'll be sold once they start getting some highly rated OL recruits.

Hoping he can develop Nate Crawford into a good player so our line isn't always so pasty.

Yeah, no doubt he is going to have an opportunity to make a name for himself as an O-line coach by developing a couple of tackles this offseason. I think there is some talent to work with there.

Felt like the talent on the OL was subpar this year.

One thing that stands out to me is the way the OL progressed throughout the season. That is a very telling sign that good coaching was involved.

I like the youth movement on the staff, especially with Odom onboard now.

From Henson to Odom, Ricker and Grinch it's good to see.

I felt the same way. Early in the year the line seemed to be disjointed, and Maty's abandonment of good pocket protection hurt, too. The line and Maty got better as the year went along, and our run blocking at the end of the season was its best, especially against good competition, save the Bama game.

We improved a bit on false start penalties, too.

I'll give Ricker credit and say he was responsible for a lot, if not most of the improvement overall. Not bad for coming in late, but I'm also dismayed we had the problems this year, especially early.

I'm hopeful but not quite sold yet on his ability.

agree, his immediate impact could not be described as "positive", regardless of what the players were saying.

Let's hope season 2 will be a drastic improvement. Given his reasonably good resume and pedigree, I'd expect him to wind up being the coach we would all like him to be.

The line got better throughout the year.

It that isn't an indication of good coaching I don't know what is, especially considering the overwhelming lack of real talent on the line.

We lost our left tackle, who ended up starting on the team that will likely play in the Super Bowl.

That might have a little do with problems.

The good news is we did see progress throughout the year. How bad we started though is confusing to me. I think we averaged close to 4 ypc in the beginning of the year, when against those teams we should be closer to 6 ypc. I do think he is a good coach, but I am unaware of any recruits he is bringing in this year.

I was a bit concerned as well the first few weeks. But just thinking back, I realized...I never thought about Ricker the whole 2nd half of the season. Must mean they were doing some things better and improving.

change in splits, change in snap count system, other things that caused problems, none had much or anything at all to do w/ Britt moving on to the NFL.

And then went back to the old system and things seem to have gotten a bit better. See what a full offseason brings next year.

While I don't disagree, IMO it improved once people were back in their "natural" positions.

We did ok on the line considering our QB spent a lot of the year creating pressure that wasn't really there and we were starting a couple guys who are average on their best day.

I REALLY hope that Bauer and Rhodes take McNulty and Chappel's spots.

Cuellar
Bauer
Boehm
McGovern
Rhodes
