We pay this midget retard recruiter ... 7-8 million a season ...

And we don't have a QB unless Zollers gets healthy or Horn is ready ...

2025 QB is coming from the portal. Looks like Reece is taking over at A&M so Weigman will portal out. The Tulane QB probably leaves, but he will get big money, same with Lagway at Florida. If OU doesn't assure their Jackson Arnold he's the starter in 2025 he will bolt too. He almost redshirted last week in preparation for the portal.

You can't underestimate how unattractive Mizzou was to any competitive QB while Cook was here. No one was going to get a fair shot, we saw that with Horn. But with him gone, we can get quality QB talent. Remember we came within a "C" hair from landing Jayden Daniels back in the day. LSU came in late with a bag. Imagine where we would be had Drink closed that deal. I'm very optimistic.

The reality of Drinkwitz is ...

He's a great salesman for the university. He's a decent motivator for the young men playing for him. But he's a terrible head football coach and CEO for an SEC football program.

That's the reality.

Drink has never recruited/developed a solid QB that he has actually put on the field. Horn isn’t going to play. When he gets healthy he’s heading for MLB. Zollers, assuming he’s recovered from his injury will be a Freshman in the SEC. Sorry, but Drink has shown no propensity to develop (or find someone to develop) a QB. We’re looking at best case 8-4 this season and who knows next year.

The portal would seem to be a great option for 2025. Come to MU/SEC and be virtually guaranteed a starting position. Not sure I’d take that flyer tho. If I’m the player deciding.

Lot of negativity in this thread, and it is maddening that there aren't more QB options on the team.
But any QB coming in will have good wr and te room. Shore up Oline, make sure we have 2 viable RB's and O could be good.

One of the better college qb development coaches was Pinkel, a short drive or phone call away, and I'd be surprised if Drink has never spoken to him on this topic. If he has, Eli clearly doesn't care to take his advice.

Exactly. Pinkel blessed us with a string of QBs. Next up was developed and ready to step in. We knew who the heir apparent was after the season.

Drink did that, but his tried to play baseball

I think Mizzou fans are forgetting we wanted Horn to start last year. He had a better arm and has more talent than Cook, but will he play football again. I still see him on sideline during games

Drink has had 5.25 recruiting cycles to get someone on campus with a higher ceiling than Cook and have it transfer to the field. Without being a dynamic running threat, Cook cant beat you with his arm. When his legs are a threat it creates the spaces for him to fit throws in. He can't knife the ball into the hole (Pyne had 2 INTs on this kind of throw. He missed the first one terribly and he had Norfleet wide open on the 2nd because he had stared into the boundary long enough to move the safety off the seam but I digress.....)

I thought Moore's first half vs aTm was bad.
Yesterday was egregious. Cook had 12 fricking passing attempts before he battered his hand enough times to make them pull him. He connected on 6. His misses were terrible. The RBs averaged 5 YPC in the first half and what did Moore do? Let Pyne throw the ball to the other team 3 times. I dont what game he's watching but there isnt an arm on the team that can execute the kind of concepts he is using. He also sucks at the helmet comms. He is too slow seeing the defense and getting the plays in to make any use of tempo, especially running the ball. We hit them for 5 yds on a first down carry and never build on it.

Pinkel didn't develop great QBs, he recruited them. He didn't develop Brad Smith, Smith showed his talent in the Illinois game. He didn't develop Gabbert onto a consistent threat or Chase Daniels. Last night A&M pulled their 5 star QB for the 4 star freshman. He lit LSU up. You think A&M developed him? It's all about fit with the offense, talent maturing and alot of luck. The NFL gets it wrong 70% of the time.

Coach Kul had a soft rep for developing DEs at Mizzou, but that disappeared as soon as he left. The best development coaching a player will get is on the HS level. After that it is produce or we will find someone else who will.

Taking Horn without a football only commitment was clearly a mistake that has led to the current lack of anything from the QB position. I don't know if there will be an answer for Drink and Moore in the portal with how poor the offense has looked. I guess the over/underthrown balls to open receivers will give them some film to work with.

Moore is the key to that. I don't understand how Drink can be happy with his play calling. Maybe they knew the QB position was a shite show even with Cook. But realistically what could they do? You can't have an open QB competition again in 2024. That's just a bad look for Mizzou. 2025 is a whole new beginning. Should be some talent available, our NIL is strong and maybe Moore needs excellent QB play to excel. So does Huepal and Kiffen and Lanning.

With the most important game of the year happening in 2 weeks I wanted to know why the offense was broken compared to last year. The best explanation I could find came from the semi retired St Louis area sports journalist Bernie Miklasz.

According to him there are many problems on offense but the lack of quarterback throwing accuracy is the root contributor to all of them. Missouri is almost at the bottom of the list in that stat against sec opponents. Sixty percent of all quarterbacks transfer every year so Eli should be able to find 2 QB's that are accurate throwers for next year.

Bernie's 32 minute youtube video for those interested:

Thanks for sharing Bernie's video. He aint wrong.

Cook injured his core during the Buffalo game and hasn't been able to throw accurately outside the hashes since that game. Combine that with Moore's play calling the offense has been an absolute disaster.

Just correcting my previous post. It should be 60% of starting quarterbacks this year are transfers. Not 60% of all quarterbacks transfer. Accuracy is important heh.
