Ever heard of an insurance policy actually paying out on this?

Glad he’s coming back.

Hope he only improves his draft stock and helps us improve our program.

Turner, Byers, and Anderson will all have an opportunity to complete the two deep on the edge. Daniel Parker may figure into the rotation as well.

Parker was just voted defensive player of the year in Missouri high school football.

Good news. Hopefully Lock stays. I have a little excitement about Mizzou football for the first time in a couple of years.

Maybe. Couldn’t find anything saying he got paid.

Less than 30 college players have ever cashed one of those policies in as of a couple years ago. Usually the insurance company can disallow the claim because there’s really no regulation on the policies.

Does insurance only pay out if X player never attempts to play again?

The policies have various triggers. One that was publicized was to pay out if the player’s draft status fell below the 3rd round.

But they still rarely pay out.

Man that is huge. I truly hope he has an injury free season for his sake.

As for the policies, I read that $8 million had been paid out over a 6 year period. Not much considering that's hardly one year's pay for ONE player, not a number of players.

The proof is in the numbers. The NCAA began sponsoring career-ending insurance in 1990. In the 26-year existence of what is now called Exceptional Student-Athlete Disability Insurance, only a handful of athletes have ever collected. "Total disability?" asked Juanita Sheely, the NCAA's director of travel and insurance. "More than two and less than a dozen [have been paid] that I know of." Projected out since 1990, that's approximately 2,000 policyholders. The number of claims is unknown, according the NCAA.

Jaylon Smith from Notre Dame collected $700,000 on his insurance policy because he dropped in the draft. There was also an article that said Lattimore collected $1.7M on a disability policy.....definitely not chump change.

In order to get a policy, I would think he would want a draft evaluation. But what do I know.

As demonstrated above, those are clearly outliers. And I still couldn’t find anything that said Lattimore collected. Just that he had the policy.

Damn...will be awesome to have him back for another season. I hope he stays health and has a monster year. Two things stand out to me after reading his reasons to,go me back:
1. Wants to get his degree...head in the right place long term and speaks volumes towed his character.
2. He is obviously excited and "in tune" with what is happening with MU's program and WANTS to not only be a part of, but a leader of that continued turnaround. Hopefully Lock will make the same decision...would be huge for the program.

Hopefully him and Lock made a pack if one stayed so would the other.
