When I say Cook doesn't suck, what is mean is he is as advertised. He wasn't a 4 star with tons of offers and playing down. He's a G5 talent, barely, that got an offer from Mizzou. The Big question is what did Odom see to make the offer?

Here's what's weird... our OL gets fixed in 1 season and Shrader becomes a Heisman finalist. Also Burden has his best year and our true freshman TE has a good season plus Marquis Johnson and Blood making catches as freshmen. Everything gets better with the run. That's what we do, run the ball, throw to lots of guys. Why change things?

The offensive line is clearly not as good or as advertised as a strength. Not sure why. It’s been good enough for the run game but worse in pass pro. That makes an already slow to read the field QB even worse. Green has been worse than advertised for example.

Like Bass has inferred, Cook is still Cook. He peaked last season. Problem is he seems hurt and has been for awhile. Like I noted in the game thread he lacks the acceleration burst he showed last year. He was decent enough at hitting the deep middle completions. He can’t even make those anymore.

Problem does have an abdominal, or hernia, or something injury going on. If the coaches know, and still play him at and he continues to show this poorly. frick the coaches. If Brady isn’t being honest about an injury, frick him for thinking this version of himself isn’t a massive detriment to the offense.

Probably a farmer. Pigs do indeed eat their young.

Cook has been under pressure on 20.6% of his drop backs. It was 22% last year. He isn't making the throws that are there. He is double clutching, dropping his eyes and bailing on the pocket. The all 22 look is damning. It also shows his lack of acceleration when running. There are a handful of second level defenders that can run with a healthy Cook. He can't pull away from anyone, he is avoiding contact at all costs, and can't make a throw outside the #s. There's 3 weeks of tape of it. He hasnt moved the same since the Buffalo game when he went into the EZ on his head. aTm made Cook read the field inside out which is not how aTm had played so far defensively. They took the seams away pretty much gave Cook the field side. He either under threw it or ot it got tipped by the CB. I'm the last guy to call for the backup QB but if Drink keeps putting Cook out there with what I believe to an abdominal injury that is clearly affecting his play and decision making,we are going to see every defense the rest of the way make Cook and Cooper beat them with curls and slants because Cook cant throw a hole shot from the pocket right now.

Moore called way to many 2nd down passing plays in the first half. It played right into Elko's hand. aTm pinned their ears back on every second down and instead of responding with Duo or Split Zone, he kept calling pass plays. Six sacks allowed and Noel had 12 total touches. Easily Moore's worst called game.

The defense was terrible at every level. The run fits were Wyoming 2019 bad. Pride and Burks are making highlight reels for the wrong team. Batoon's lack of adjustments was discouraging.

Pretty much as expected then.

Coaching malpractice to keep starting a hobbled Cook that was severely limited even with two weeks off.

Yeah. Cook is looking at his first read and bailing a lot of the time (same as last 2 years) ...

Moore doesn't call enough match up exploits or the receivers aren't running the routes correctly cause with our weapons, we should have at least 1 guy who is better than the defender who he's matched up post snap ... Neither Drink or Moore are offensive geniuses if they can't find ways to exploit the match up problems we should be able to create with Burden, Wease, Cooper, Noel, Norfleet, etc ...

This is the best analysis in this whole thead.

Every MU coach should be facing hard questions this week. Both lines got manhandled. The defense did not have many answers for anything. Did not feel like we tried to get the run going very much.

And there was little evidence to see that ANY of the coaches made ANY changes through the game to turn things around.

Lots of questions about Cook are warranted, but he was not even close to being the sole reason we lost. Pretty sure we still lose that game by a bunch even with Cook turning in a good performance.

No, he sucks. Great kid, not the hero this team needs.

Moore is exploiting defenses both deep and intermediate.

What does he need to do? Hold Cooks hand and will him to complete the passes to open WRs that are they?

fricker missed Wease on Saturday cutting across the field for a TD by throwing it a foot in front on him. Then the next play was the called back Burden TD that was under thrown. If he gets the ball out before the lineman gets past 4.5 yards, the flag is probably waived off.

Cook is slow as shite recognizing open WRs and throwing the correct route open.

I don’t know how Drink will convince the weapons we have left for next year to stay after this shite.

We both agree that Cook is dog shite at QB ...

My issue is that Moore isn't adjusting the playbook to account for this liability cause Drink isn't benching his future son-in-law ...

At the Vandy game last year, guys were winning 1-on-1s all over the field, streaking wide open in seam, etc and Cook missed at least 2-3 TDs which made the game a bit of a nail biter into the 4th qtr... haven't been to a game this year to see the routes (TV does a terrible job of showing entire field ...)

Will be interesting at South Carolina (the game I'll attend this year) ...

A Brady Cook with lingering injuries, like Connor Bazelak with lingering injuries, will result in more lost games probably.

Maybe Drink still has the scars from the K State game in 2022. When the starting QB threw two interceptions he put the back up QB in and the back up promptly threw two interceptions as well.

It was do or die with the starting QB after that. At what point is the injured starter still better than the back up though. Drink is not the only coach like this.

If this is the case, Drink should not be coaching at a P5 school ... now or ever again.

Coaching high level sports is not for pussies ..

The problem is the quarterback he has on the team isn't a 4* or 5* quarterback. He should have gotten another quarterback that can throw downfield and play smarter. Next year we will know if the HC prefers using his offense schemes and refuses to adapt and make changes. I still think the team is a couple of years away to be a worthy playoff team. Horn has one more year left right? He might not be the one since there may be some small missing pieces that I say 2 years from now will be the team to have all the pieces when you add in those 4* recruits and high 3* recruits.
Biggest one is trying to keep the assistants for stability like Gary Pinkel did. Keeping assistants for 4 years or longer is the key. That is hard to do nowadays.
Look at Kansas right now. Kansas lost their OC to Penn State. And boom Kansas sucks and Penn State has a much better offense.

He might have 3 or 4 due to medical redshirts.
