Also that team won’t lose anyone other than Nikko, so would be even better the next season

That's part of the problem. I know it won't/can't be done, but we need to process Mitchell Smith, Suggs, Santos, Nikko (whose only a junior I think) and replace them with legit D1/SEC level talent.

Tilmon is 1 of the best passing bigs in the country. But he’s best as a secondary player, unfortunately when Jontay got hurt Tilmon was asked to be more than that

I’m ok with Suggs and Nikko.
The rest is a black hole.

Mark Smith and Porter on the court with Pinson/Geist, Pickett, and Tilmon would be a much better offensive team.

Suggs, Watson, and Puryear are scoring a combined 14 ppg and playing over 20 minutes a piece. They are awful.

I have said the same thing in the past. But I think I say that because I've forgotten what it is like to actually be good. NCAA tourney good. I really don't think that any team that has Suggs and Nikko getting significant minutes is going to the NCAA tournament. Not this year obviously. Not the next. And not the next if Suggs is still playing significantly.

You really don’t need to process all of them. And there’s not likely to be that many impact players available.

Really you just needs 4-5 guards and 3 bigs.

Mizzou probably has the guards, though getting a guy like Beverly would be an upgrade. Just need Jackson and 1 other big

Really the bigs would be fine this year if their best Big didn’t blow his knee out.

Probably not, guards aren’t really the problem.
They have been ok this season and I think will be better next.
They need Tray Jackson to be good (say 8 & 4 in 20 minutes) and Tilmon to stay on the court.

The thing that bothers me most with Cuonzo is the style of play. It’s ugly. The offense sucks and the defense, while being solid, is not designed to create turnovers. If you suck in the half court you need to get some run outs and we very rarely do that.

Now, the talent level is bad. No doubt, but I’m not sure if his offense is ever going to be good. If we win, then fine but it’s boring as hell.

How much better we are next year basically comes down to how good Jackson is and how much Tilmon can stay on the floor (disagree with Reedus here, he’s very good when he plays) I really don’t understand the recruiting that’s being done for the final spot. We need another big, and we aren’t going after one. Better hope Jackson is the real deal.

If you look at the top defenses according to KenPom, very few actually turn teams over. If Cuonzo can get Mizzou to playing the type of defense that he coached at Tennessee and Cal then next season will be much better. They foul too much this season to be elite like some of his previous teams.

You’ve got too much time on your hands...We played Bama once and the game was close same with S Carolina. Tenn by 12 on the road and gave them a game. Just because a game stretches to 10 points at the end doesn’t have anything to do with the actual competitiveness of the game. We lost to Arky by 12. Were we not in that game the entire time? Point being your negative about everything and really just not an opinion I really even think about.

Get Tilmon some help down low and they are talking about Mark Smith's foot problem started in high school and might be something he will have to deal with the rest of his career.

And the game with Kentucky at home wasn’t competitive and we lost by 8 which I didn’t include. We really haven’t been all that competitive. We’ve “hung in better than anyone expected” and then lost. A lot of games. This isn’t an acceptable season.

If you think it’s ok to be under .500 and have 3 conference wins at this point in the season, I’m not going to share your opinion.

Once Jontay got hurt you had to know this type of season was a probability. More important than wins is developing to program culture that will be able to win consistently in future years.

Right now there are 6 players you can build around for the next 2-3 seasons. Dru Smith, Mark Smith, Tilmon, Pickett, Pinson and Watson. It’s easier to add around those types.

I don’t think anyone thinks this season should be the norm. But it is what it is. You’re coming off the worst stretch in program history. If you expected more than this without jontay that’s a you problem. Expectations vs reality. And it’s cool to say you expect more like a hardo but you know what fan base does that in the Midwest and is a laughingstock? Nebraska. It just looks more delusional than aspirational.

Just to be clear JQ, I do think Tilmon is good when on the floor. I don't know if he's improved much about his game from last year. He was good last year. He's good this year.

PITIFUL: *Power forward contribution watch: 3 points (1/2 FG, 1/2FT), 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 fouls, 0 turnovers in 27 minutes (19 for Kevin Puryear, 5 for KJ Santos, 3 for Mitchell Smith). And this is pretty consistent this season.

We're playing 4 on 5 pick-up ball because of the above.

Tilmon has little bball IQ and the little he has, he's not using. Just a dumb player. He's a liability currently. Per Gabe because of his dumb fouls: "a guy that played 2 of the last 17 minutes and watched his team get outscored by a margin of 36-20 in that time period. So you tell me who to blame for the loss? Cause I know where I'd lay it."

Gotta flush all of KA's players out, then it's totally on HCCM. If this would had happened already, I'd call for HCCM's head.

I thought Nikko did a better job at FL

And I really don't understand why Tilmon and Nikko can't be on the floor at the same time.

That attitude assumes CM didn’t have any hand in shaping this year’s roster. He brought in Santos, who’s been a colossal failure. He assumed Santos would even be a backup for Jontay. He’s not.

He also processed two PGs last year.

So it’s not just a “me” problem. Some of it is a Coach problem.

Harris plays even less at NC State than he did at Mizzou. Misevaluating Santos is really crushing this team.

They took him pretty early when a number of good options were available.
