What is there to be optimistic about currently?

Isn't this more of a product of hiring nobodies to be the coach than just that only big name schools get recruiting bumps?

You think Mizzou is going to hire a big name?

No.

But to say that schools like Mizzou don't get a recruiting bounce with new coaches I beleive isn't accurate. It would be better to say Mizzou has never hired a coach where one would expect a recruiting bump.

Why worry about recruiting right now?

You're right. It's better to wait until it's too late.

Wait. I got that wrong didn't I?

It doesn't matter who you offer or who decommitted from you in droves. Who you get is all that matters. Am I getting it right?

Seems the recruiting philosophy changes as our rankings drop

Recruiting, and good recruiting is a 24/7, 365 Days a year thing. It never ends. I was surprised about the Foster decommitt, but when we start out the way we did the first 6 games, and the media is telling everyone that BO is gone at the end of the season, why would he stay?
But, BO has to get back up on that horse and go back to work selling Missouri. And I disagree with some on here. I’ve got first hand knowledge that he’s pretty impressive in the home. A friend of mine has a son that was recruited last year by Odom, and if it wasn’t for Med school calling him, he would have come to Mizzou. And he had offers from a lot of D-1 schools! Some top end P-5 schools. My friend also said he was much more impressed with Odom than Pinkel When it came to recruiting. Pinkel talked about himself too much and not about Mizzou.

First, If you had "first hand knowledge" then it would have been YOU talking to BO, not your so called friend.

Second, your story is total bullshite. What the frick is wrong with you? Did you actually think that was a believable story?

clearly we should fire the coach every year then until we are top 10 in recruiting

That’s the type of necessary outside the box thinking we need.

How about we pay someone from the state of Alabama to change their name to nick Saban then we can tout we lured Saban from Bama for the job

How about hiring one of Saban's top assistant coaches?
Instant cred with better recruits and being part of a staff that can coach top players.

I think Saban assistants are overrated.

Assistants can in general be overrated as far as what they contribute to the puzzle. I would say Odom’s success was due more to working for Fuentes and Pinkel than it was based on his own abilities.

The opposite is probably more like it. Both are very good coaches in large part because they put together great staffs that fit them as HCs.
BOs initial selection of DC wasn’t good. Nor was his initial DL coach.

I think Haley is a very good fit with him for DL coach. If BO earns another year his selection of either a DC or LB coach will really be the difference in him succeeding as a HC.

That’s not a support of what BO has done as a HC. It’s more of a criticism. It’s also an understanding that there’s a difference between what makes a coach a good position coach vs coordinator vs head coach. BO has proven himself to be very good at the first 2.

He has to pick a very good replacement for Cross if he’s to be a successful HC.

You're right. BO doesn't even know what a football is. It's a wonder this bumbling idiot can even get 11 guys on the field.

I appreciate that. Like everyone else I've watched BO since he arrived under pinkel..... I guess I've never seen the potential in him as you have.... Not saying anyone is right or wrong here.. I just have always believed he was a bit of a coat tale rider.

He's been in the spotlight for almost 2 years... THe results speak for themselves.

I'll support MIZZOU no matter what...... Just don't see BO as you do
