I could see how you would come to that opinion. BO was only 1 if the best recruiters on GP’s staff as a position coach. At Memphis he transformed the defense from 1 of the worst in FBS to a top 25 defense. (Memphis dropped into the 70’s the year after he left). Then at Mizzou coordinated the best defense of the GP era. Of course some of that could be attributed to GP handcuffing Ricker, by not letting him determine his starters. That led to the worst Mizzou offense of the GP era.

There’s obviously a different skill set between HC and DC. BO hasn’t shown he can be a successful HC.

Lupoi would be a great choice by BO for LB coach & DC next season. Lupoi already makes more than any Mizzou assistant, so probably won’t happen.

Hmmm, so just wondering how you arrived at that conclusion. His defense at Memphis improved every single year topping out at #28 Total D and #10 YPP in 2014. In 15 we had the #6 Total D and #3 YPP in the country, his lone year as DC year.

If anyone had concerns, they sure didn't voice them. Everyone on the board wanted him as the new DC when he was hired, and everyone was extremely pleased with him when he was in that role here. Had he not got the HC job here (or Memphis), he would have gotten any DC job he wanted.

This "well, he wasn't that good" didn't start until....well, frick...this thread.

I see you left out the year BO was DC. Also Bud Foster is 1 if the best DC’s in college.

The year after BO left Memphis they dropped significantly.

BO needs a LB coach so that he’s not doing so much. And if he’s willing to step back some a good DC can be gotten.

Fuente has had good defenses because he’s had really good DC’s. That goes back to my original point about both Fuente and GP. They are very good HC’s because they had great staffs. That’s starts with their coordinators.

Mizzou can have a good defense again if BO gets a good assistant to replace Cross.

I will wager that when Bud Foster retires, Charlie Wiles will leave with him. Galen Scott hire a new line coach and scrap Foster's Bear front (because he as never set it in a game) and their fanbase will shite down both legs.
