Question on program stability

Saw this question on the Rant and wanted to ask your opinion.
"Would you rather have consistency with 9-10 win seasons and hopes for playing in the SEC title game year in and out? Or would you rather have the ups and downs of sure fire national championship seasons one year and subsequent 4-8/9 win seasons the following years?"

9-10 wins consistently. Easy choice for me.

Championships all the way. Look at schools like Miami. Has won almost as many championships as any school. But they have also had their share of bad teams.

It was the Georgia vs Auburn argument.
I was on the side of consistency as well with the thought that you would break through the glass ceiling eventually.
But the hardware also is appealing though. No moral victories just a crystal ball(or whatever the trophy is now) in the MATC for all to see. Now it would probably give most of us heart attacks and bad livers the following years due to the team underperforming in off years but we will always have championship years down the road.

Worst "would you rather" ever.
Try this:
Would you rather have Mizzou win a national championship, but be saddled with deep, unyielding rectal itch until the next season opener or lose the national title game and get an immediate 20% raise, and two extra weeks of paid vacation at a five-star, paid-for Caribbean time share.
I'll take the heartbreak and the cash.

Ill take one NC and then 5 BAD years, and then the consistent 9-10.

Gotta the NC no doubt. Recruits love seeing that trophy, and they want to help get another.

I'll take probation and 20 awful years to trade for a Natty.

No question the National title.
Look at it this way.... Generations of Cub fans have lived and died in a world of suck. It's almost become deep space travel or a Martin Luther King vision, where the hope becomes that perhaps some of their offspring live long enough to reach the promised land.
In honesty, we're already there. It would be pure joy to be part of the group that reached the promised land.

Yep, as long as the Natty is solid and not taken away. Also, in my lifetime please.

Take the Natty and it is not even close, really cannot believe some would just take being good over occasionally being champions
