Many of the games are toss ups, wins, or loses

Wins
UT Martin
Wyoming
Purdue
Memphis
Kentucky
Vandy

Loses
UGA
Bama

Toss ups
USCe (A bye week after UGA helps)
Florida-Doesn’t have a starting QB yet and has a new coach
Tenn-Doesn’t have a starting QB yet with a new coach

Arkansas will be overlooked because of the upcoming Mizzou Bowl game and a UA bad record. They will have nothing to lose and it will essentially be their Bowl game and will help them playing us at the end of the year while implementing a new offense.

This happened in the 2016 game when Arkansas overlooked Missouri.

the front 4 on defense is strong enough to get pressure quickly which protects the secondary.

Garrett is going to factor into this as well. His A gap blitz pending stunts in front helps move the QBs off their spot and gets them looking at throws to the outside/flat. The OLBs are in hook drops and the DBs have rolled from Cover 2 to Cover 3 post snap. The QB is now making a throw underneath with multiple defenders to rally to the ball. They executed this well the last half of the season.

Expectations in this thread seem to be in contrast to how Mizzou has recruited.

Mizzou has recruited at a 6-8 win level over the last 5 years, but many here seem to think Mizzou is going to win 8-10 games.

As some on here count Florida, Kentucky, Vandy and Tennessee as wins they all are probably counting us as wins. We tend to do better when our starting lineups are jr. and sr. laden and those teams that I mentioned above plus a few more are young, etc.

Depends on if we figure out how to beat just okay teams that go to bowls. I’ll go into the season optimistic and say we do.

6-6 or 7-5. I’d set the over/under at 6.5

No casual fan will argue that. That's for damned sure.

I'm going to go with 7-5...BUT I truly do believe that a breakout and 10+ win season is possible.

Season start/ending look familiar? Road games are tough.
8-4 is a too early guess. Purdue or USCe will be a heart-breaker that we should have won. This kind of season start will hurt recruiting again.

If Odom goes 6-6 with this team/schedule, fire him quick.
Which means OC Dooley screwed this up and/or Odom failed with the D.

I don't buy Mullen having the lizards clicking in year one.

I don’t think Purdue is a loss this year. They won’t be the same team, and pretty much every Mizzou player will want redemption. I know it’s on the road, and Purdue isn’t a bad team. But, they aren’t great either, and lose a ton on D. Just don’t think it will be a loss

What has me not knowing what to expect this year is how we were beat by a depleted Texas team in the Texas Bowl last year.

Been looking into it, its Alabama's Homecoming so everything is more expensive.

True, but the team also just lost the OC, that has to hit morale, preparation, and confidence going into the game. The D actually played okay given the circumstances in that game. The O didn’t hold up. Just a thought

Texas offense or defense did not beat us in the Texas Bowl it was their special teams. The punter killed the field position for Lock. With the new kickoff rule the Texas Bowl would probably have a much different outcome.

The new kick off rule is a blessing to the 2018 team

Exactly. It's the only game I've ever watched where I can legitimately say we were beat by the punter.

I thought new rule change was for kickoffs are they including punts because mostly the punts inside the 5-10 yard line killed us in the texas bowl

I’m an optomist when it comes to Mizzou every year, not sure why. Perhaps Barry being a defensive coach figures out his defense. Prewitt and Oregon transfer are needed, but how can you not like us up the middle. They played decent the second half of last yr. Our offense is legit, don’t quite get the lack of respect for Lock. Kid was and always has been a top 5 pick IMO.
