I figured we should consolidate all the positive posts about Drink in one thread so we dont litter the rest of the actual football threads with positive posts about Drink.

I'll start by saying Drink has done a great job at tempering expectations. He has been open about not caring what the fans say and it shows.

I really like his willingness to talk shite in public when he wins against mouthy coaches.

Great recruiter. Could sell oil to Arabs. (Steve Earl's "Snake oil" plays in the background)

Yep he's a very good recruiter, hard to deny that. He also seems to understand social media pretty well and uses it as a tool in a way that many other coaches don't. And the cockiness and shittalking is funny when we're winning, eg. the lightsaber in the press conference after beating Florida.

Right now his arrogance is annoying, but this season is still young and he could win the fanbase back over with a win this Saturday

if he finds a way to beat ksu, I think it would "almost" guarantee him he'll be back in 2024.

As long as he beats Memphis and Vandy and keeps Nwarnei he is back

As I said in the other thread, doesn't matter who he beats if he can't keep the fanbase happy ...

What "did in" Cuonzo was his inability to get butts in the seats at the arena because he fielded a boring, mediocre product ... (what all the fans are complaining about and what all the reporters are writing about) ...

I think Drink has to win at least 9 games (includes bowl game) this year to keep his job (Georgia, LSU, and Tennessee ... acceptable losses) ... and he needs to stop alienating the fans in his post-game pressers ...

But he doesn’t know how to read the room so to speak. Missourians aren’t fond of showboating whether or not the teams are winning. That’ll work with the kids, but not with the fanbase.

We aren’t last in D1 special teams play.

So we got that going for us.

I wish this was true, b/c there are not 9 wins on our schedule and I’m ready to start the next chapter, but I doubt it. I think a 7-5 regular season will save him, even with another bowl loss.

sigh...this takes me back to the waning years of the St. Louis Rams when Greg Zuhrlein or Johnny Hekker were the MVP on the team.

Most people are a causal fans. They watch Mizzou when they have time which are afternoon or night games. Last year they played 4 afternoon games Arkansas, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, and Wake and were 3-1. Last year Mizzou had 3 night games LT, NMSU, and Georgia and were 2-1. The game against Georgia was close and most fans were excited that the game was even close.

Most fans don’t follow the team like we do. When the announcers talk about how good Cook is and that Horn still needs work they believe it.

One of the reasons the KState game is sold out is because of the NWarnei commit. A lot people are excited about next year. People that don’t follow Mizzou know about Nwarnei and it was the same with DGB.
