Looks like this may be the starting unit. For now at least. Still a lot of time for other guys to make a move.

Hopefully we give Harris a shot at Center, Abeln got whipped at times last year.

I think the staff has liked Abeln's mental side which is pretty important at center.
I agree though. He lacked the physicality needed last year. I doubt they play him if that's still the case.

I thought that Bailey and Harris would also be in the mix at center.

I remember reading articles from 247 last year stating Cuellar had the potential to be an All American.

I really saw enough of Abeln last year. If it's him at center, I just hope he is 1000% better than he is at guard.
Little surprised to hear Howell over Cuellar at this early juncture. Otherwise, gotta say, it all makes more sense than what Ricker did last year frickin' with the line and moving guys out of position.

Elarbee is only telling us where the OL stands currently in his brain. His super limited evaluation is based upon attitude and some conditioning only at this point.
The only thing that matters...is when the pads are strapped on and tough SEC D-Linemen are coming at you. Just ask Abeln.
Mizzou will be as good as the OL allows 90% of the time in 2016. This year will be "all about the OL".

Agreed. Single most important group on the field for us. Just have to be much better next year.

I suggest we purge our memories of everything about the OL in 2015. Bad scheme, bad coaching, bad execution. It takes a lot of ineptitude to make an experienced OL perform that badly. No way in hell we see that again.

No matter how you slice and dice it. OL is key to not repeating last years debacle.

JMO I don't think the OL could bas as bad as last year, if they tried.
I for one, look for a nice improvement over last year.

I wish I could remember who, but a Mizzou guy was on 920 recently saying Andy Bauer is ready to take a run at playing this year. Lord knows he's needed.
(It was either Matter or Barry Odom. Just can't recall.)

I hate to be "that guy", but I think this inexperienced O-line is gonna be just as bad as last year's. Def the Achilles heel of this team

I totally get your skepticism, but understand, going from a power blocking scheme to zone blocking takes a loooooooong time. Even on the NFL level, from time to time you see a new OC try to switch to zone blocking and even pros have a tough time. It even effects pass blocking because if a DC sees the OL struggling with reads, he will force the OL to keep reading stunts and give them few opportunities to "straight up" block.
Mizzou's inexperienced line won't be perfect, but I bet it will be a simplified power blocking scheme with TE/HB help on passing plays. This will cut down on the confusion we saw last year on the OL, and the focus will be execution which should get better as the season progresses.
If they can some how play a decent game against WV, (and the offensive game plan will help)that will go a long way to building their confidence.

I can't see how we are going to a power game and blocking when our rbs and o-linemen are so under-sized. We have one o-lineman(he probably won't ever play) on the team who weighs in at 220 lbs. Then through in the inexperience and youth. Ok....I'm coming back in from the ledge!

All the OL that are projected to maybe play are at or around 300 lbs.
With the 2 RB additions will be bigger as well. Stong & Crockett is comparable in size to Elliot from OSU.
